Not many bigger critics of Jethro than I’ve been but I also give him credit for providing that rubber stamp.

I’m not sure Tex Schramm approves trading Herschel our best and most popular at the time who he brilliantly used a 5th round pick that enabled us to get once the USFL folded.

Jimmy wouldn't have taken the job without roster control. He never would have worked with Tex. People forget, but at the time Jimmy agreed to coach the cowboys, it was Jerry on bended knee and Jimmy with all the leverage. It was Jerry trying to regain some of that leverage that lead to the break up. But at that time, There was clear separation of the football operations and the business side. Sure Jerry could have objected to a trade, but on what basis? He would be a guy off the street trying to argue with one of the great football minds of all time. I give Jerry credit for hiring Jimmy and getting out of his way. But in hindsight, I think the "getting out of the way" part was not borne out of wisdom but out of desperation to hire Jimmy. Its clear now that he wanted to be a part of the "fun stuff" all along.

Not only would tex have probably fought the Walker trade, he wouldn't have thought of it in the first place. Jimmy's idea was so outside the box for the NFL at that time even a seasoned GM like Mike Lynn got duped.

The Cowboys are a Jones family vanity project. Nothing more. They can get lucky year to year but the reality is that sustained excellence is not in the cards. Too much arrogance in that FO. I do wonder how much longer they can live off the past. That is not sustainable.

2 of my teams were ranked in the top ten in Texas. We played several games of 10k plus. Pretty exciting. Won 18 regular season games in a row, once. Those kids were treated like rock stars! Lol
My sons team was Hawley H.S. Bearcats(Texas). He's graduated and in the military, but just this past year our little school went all the way to State and played at Jerry World. lol. We got mauled by Shiner. They were just bigger and faster. Was very cool still. We are a very well coached team with Coach Ables. We never made it this far. We are a town of like 800 and have 1 stop sign . So proud of the team and the town.

Jerry doesn't hide it. All he kept repeating was BRAND BRAND BRAND. I hear 0 mention from him about TEAM building and winning results, except winning in business. We fans better wake ^.

Yep . I agree and hear what your saying . And why Jethro deserves some credit for rubber stamping.

True. Remember that the continued revenue juggernaut is what allows him his insistent pursuit and passion to be a celebrity football guy . Without the revenue flourishing he might be challenged to curb his ways with football operations .

We need apathy.

Which ever side you land on you need to stop caring stop talking stop watching. Because as long as I can sit in a twin peaks with an out of town vendor and see him look at the espn screen that shows two nimrods talking about the cowboys in late March for the whole lunch nothing will change.

They need to lose us as part of that audience. And I think it should go without saying that if you come in here to post a cowherd, smith, bayless and others hot takes you are a troll because that’s what they are doing to us. It’s garbage and we need to fight back by not giving a ****.

I get it you’ve been a lifelong fan since you 1970 whatever. That’s awesome but what’s that really gotten you the last 25 years or so?

The Joneses have said for years that there are four pillars to the family business of running the Dallas Cowboys: Tradition, Competition, Business, and Entertainment.

For Cowboys fans, winning football games is a simple matter of black and white. But they’ll likely be seeing red as the billionaires who run the silver and blue once again seem hell-bent on demonstrating that they care most about the green.

So any press conference that doesn’t directly address increasing wins and reducing losses will come across as tone-deaf at best.

the Joneses have been quite successful in business and I have to say one of the best. which team in the NFL has increased in value, made as much money in 26+ years with accomplishing less than we have. that's a work of a genuis that keeps the team relevant and market's like he does. they are not about winning championships. Dak is 13th in NFL in jersey sales. that justifies the large contract. zeke is 10th in jersey sales. that justifies playing him even if injured and not effective. what surprised me was cooper was 41st in jersey sales and we let him go. however, CD is 19th.

Can a mod correct the title typo?

"ruining" should obviously be in place of "running"

Every owner is in it to make money. Isn't that why we work, to get paid. Would you work for free? If so, PM me, I have a barn that needs to be cleaned.....it's full of crap and can use a good shoveling....

Can you start with the Star?

Wrong. NFL is a billionaires club. Most owners have made their billions from other means. Owning an NFL team is like buying a toy. Their revenue comes from area others. Most owners want to WIN so that they can have bragging rights among their peers at the NFL meetings.
