It still all hits in Dallas, it just moves a huge chunk into the next two year. So instead, you have to pay 35m$ in 2023 and 35m$ in 2024 for a guy no longer on the roster. Can you do that AND afford Kyler’s 40m$ per year as well?

You wouldn't do it that way. You'd keep them both, then cut or trade Dak in 2024. Remember, any extension Murray signs doesn't start until 2024. He'll still be on a rookie deal until that time. But these are wild hypotheticals. No chance of it happening.

Have you read the posts where some on here actually said they want the team to lose. Dak haters rather they lose so they can blame him and continue their whining. Just to say they were right.
I am NOT DEAD WRONG.
Just a few days a go someone posted they want the team to have 3 season of only 2 wins, to get top draft picks. And to make Jerry do something about the team. How stupid is that?

Not stupid at all if put in proper context. I'd rather the team go 2-15 than 8-9 or 9-8 every year. Just because of the draft.

Yep

Where does this stuff come from? It’s ridiculous.

How many times do you read where Dallas is interested in such & such a player and that player signs elsewhere. I’d put the odds on Murray coming here at nil.

The base salaries don’t start, but the signing bonus proration will.

Dak is currently set to be a 20m$ cap hit this year and a 50m$ cap hit in 2023… 40m$ in dead cap if you cut/trade him in 2024. Kyler is a 12m$ cap hit this year, and a 30m$ cap hit in his year 5 option.

So let’s say they give him the same 4-year extension Dak just signed; that gives you control for 6 years. 4 years, 160m, 66m$ at signing prorated over the next 5 years. That’s 13m$ per year. 94m$ Of the total value remains, which you can try and wiggle around to avoid major cap hits the first two years you have Dak too. Let’s say you put 2m$ as a roster bonus in 2022 and 2023, then 45m$ salary in 2024 and 2025. That’d be reasonable.

This mean if Dak is cut in 2024, these are the combined cap hits for the two players:

2022: 47m$
2023: 95m$
2024: 97m$
2025: 58m$ (just Kyler)

You could try a June 1st for Dak in 2024, that should move the bulk of it to 2025, but then 2024 will still be 60+m$ and now 2025 is also approaching 100m$

impossible is a strong word because TECHNICALLY you could pay 1 player 150m$ a year and make it work, but implausible is a good word for this scenario. Restructuring Dak’s contract twice already has made any changes to the QB position for the foreseeable future unrealistic.

I keep forgetting how high Dak's cap hit is when they don't restructure.

To go 8-9, 7-10, or especially 9-8 and make the playoffs is the absolute worst scenarios you can have, not going 2-15. That's actually better. Same end result, better draft picks. That's how you get Watson, Herbert, Burrow. Of course you could also get Darnold, Rosen, and a large list of losers drafted high in the first. But at least you have a shot. Going 8-9 you have 0 shot.

Kinda stupid not to want that.

Cincy: Jamaar Chase and Joe Burrow would not be there if they hadn't sucked balls previous. No super bowl.

LAR: Aaron Donald would not be there if they hadn't sucked balls previously. No super bowl.

How do people not get that most super bowl participants are there due to great players who they got when they sucked balls? I mean, this isn't rocket science.

Just because a team doesn't use their high picks wisely it does not follow that high picks are not preferred. That is one silly way of thinking, hey Flamms?

The facepalm would be for you for not comprehending this very simple idea.

TB just won a super bowl because they were stacked w/ talent. This talent was acquired only because they sucked. Vea, Devin White, Mike Evans, Wirfs. All high 1st rounders.

Simple stuff, man, let go of your silly facepalming emotions and you can easily see it.

I agree fully. A lot of these picks looked wrong right from the start. But failing is one thing, not having a shot at all is another.

I’m not sure if that’s the guy I want. He is a little surly. Can be inconsistent. No doubt he has talent but I’m not sure he’s an upgrade to mean we have a better SB chance. To me it’s kind of a wash. But JMO

Can’t… Jerry got bamboozled by Dak’s agent with the “no trade” clause, while Dak was coming off a broken leg and they could have just tagged him again…

Murray’s mechanics are light years better than Dak and he’s better on his feet by far. That being said, he’s also a midget in QB terms, 5’ 11”.

Nope…

I don't like Kyler at all, but to judge him on TD passes alone would be doing him a huge disservice with what he provides with his legs.

Dak threw 9 TDs I believe in those two meaningless games against the Eagles and Philly. That man was still throwing in the third against the Eagles in the last game of the season against third stringers.

https://www.azcentral.com/story/spo...arizona-cardinals-contract-report/7324303001/

"Odds Checker had the Cardinals at -500, or an implied chance of 83.3% to keep Murray, but interestingly placed the Dallas Cowboys as the favorite to land Murray, should he leave Arizona.

Dallas was given +800 odds, or an implied chance of 11.1% to land Murray.

The Atlanta Falcons were at +1000 (9.1% chance).

The Pittsburgh Steelers were given +1600 odds (5.9%).

The Philadelphia Eagles were at +2200 (4.3%). The Houston Texans were given +3000 odds (3.2%)."

No idea what to make of that. Murray hates the Cowboys.
When people say . . ."Who else are you gonna find as QB"

There have been so any options
