Will try and remain respectful but just wow...to have witnessed just ONE in person and it was THAT ONE...?
Geez bro, sorry you had to endure that and as the OP so accurately described, to have witnessed IN PERSON the TRUE REALITY of last year's team.

Again, condolences and all.

Ugh
A friend, who is also a Cowboys fan, called me during the game. He said the team's performance did not look good on television. I told him they looked worse in person.

Your friend was right too. I watched every play of that ***whooping from the comforts of my living room. To have seen just one in person of the whole year...Man, like I said before, that was THE game they never fully reovered from. I mean, outside of the division and all.

The icing on the cake was McCarthy and Dak saying afterwards they hope that other teams think that game exposed a weakness and that future opponents played them like Denver did.
The thing is, anybody who remotely copied Denver's defensive game plan(outside of the Least) made the offense look inept.

So yeah, I truly can feel your pain but from a tv viewers perspective, lol

Championships would just be a symptom of success for the Owner of the Cowboys. In his eyes, he is on top of the world and the most successful owner in professional sports. It's all about money, power and influence for Jerry. Winning not necessary.
The problem is Jerry already has his championships; three of them in fact. That they were the product if Jimmy Johnson is immaterial because, in Jerry’s mind (which is a scary place for sure), that’s not the case. At some level, the 25 years of poor to mediocre results is Jimmy’s fault because of the early success.

"Cowboys are the worst kind of disappointment"

I realize the thread title is a bit of attention-seeking hyperbole. Nonetheless, I can think of far worse disappointments than the Cowboys. I doubt the Cowboys rank in the top 100 disappointments

One of the worst games that I ever saw was when they lost to the Cardinals 38 to 0 in 1970 on Monday Night Football. They went to the Super Bowl that year and that is one reason that I laugh at all of the cry babies around here.

Fair question. But I'm ready to cut the "above average" mold. Could care less about McCarthy getting fired. Let this be the season of the great purge. Cut as much dead weight as possible
Sure

Playoff success over the past quarter century is certainly mediocre at best. Sure, viewing it as 25 single seasons may alter the opinion for any one single year.

Regardless of whether one wants to categorize the results if the past 25 years as poor, mediocre or great, my point was that winning a championship does not drive Jerry because he already has 3. The fact that fans almost universally attribute those to Jimmy and not Jerry has no bearing, because that’s not the case in Jerry’s mind.

Cowboys are basically the new Detroit Lions.
They are so far from ever winning anything and it all starts with the utmost important position in the whole league. QB!

Really? I thought they were the favorite to win the division this year.

Nah, the worst kind of disappointment would be if my wife left me for the travelling Kirby vacuum salesman, my daughter married an axe murderer she was writing to as a pen pal, and my dog stared biting me instead of the mailman. I can handle the Cowboys.

Vince Lombardi once said," Winning is not everything, it is the only thing.

What he meant by that was a championship. But Vince wasn't an owner. That's not always the case for players and or owners.

Last season was the breaking point for me. Once Denver pummeled the Cowboys into submission, I knew deep down we were not good enough to advance in the playoffs. Just another Jason Garrett type of season.

Actually, there have been mostly two kinds of seasons ever since the last SB win in 1996. We start slow and end somewhere in the middle. Or we start off hot and fizzle out. Talent level doesn't seem to matter. Oh yes, every few years we bottom out and get a top ten pick.

Hate to say it, but I actually root for a 2-3 year stretch of 2 or 3 win seasons just to get the Cowboys Organization to get real about how bad their front office really is.

For a long time I was a hardcore believer in Kellen Moore and the Boise State way. But he has been ruined by Garrett, McCarthy and the Joneses. I can't do it anymore. And I see the same thing happening to Quinn if he stays long enough.

Nothing short of the Joneses selling the Cowboys is going to turn this around, I'm afraid.

This is why I became a Detroit Lion fan...
