I genuinely don't understand why anyone would pay for this over Red Zone unless you live outside of Texas and can't get Cowboys games.

I realize that. My comment was a bit tongue in cheek in that it seems like I regularly get a lot of small Apple charges on my account that are too small to waste the time on hold to complain. I see $4.99 for Apple Music, $.99 for extra memory, and occasional charges for movies that are usually a few bucks. Apple is quite good at being surreptitious with their charges.

However, if one has to explain a joke then it was not a good joke.
Not necessarily. There's the joker and then there's the jokee.

There are a lot of transplanted fans, there are thousands of Giants fans living in DFW.

I live in Central Texas and am forced to have the Texans as the AFC home team, I'd rather watch snail races.

Don’t directv have it for this coming season.
I thought they did, This might be for 2023 and beyond.

I would like to know what the others bid on it, if at all. Amazon has already shown the interest in the NFL but I wonder if they put that business model under the microsope and was that ATT has been losing money on it for years.

Because of what the nets pay the NFL, the games are not big profit makers but they follow the FOX model and use that for programming promotion as they did when they were new. Half the commercial inventory is used for recycling audience.

Where Amazon and Netflix are right now, do they really need that? Apple doesn't want to see the strongest get stronger since they are the weakest of all the streamers. Streaming is product driven and are not keeping up.

I don't think the streamers that are already successful see the Sunday Ticket as necessary for the money.

Sunday ticket was worth it when NFL football was cool….but this garbage today is worth $0
The game has bounced back from its ratings decline. League jus gets stronger and better. The caliber of athletes and players get better. Nothing we can do to change that.

Rules get more convoluted…players get more preferential treatment….officiating gets more inconsistent and murky….the sport continues to get corrupted by corporate influence.

But feel free to ignore that stuff and enjoy the big muscles and millisecond increases in speed.

The NFL does it again! Apple actually has less subscribers than DirecTV. Apple is one of the smallest streaming services out there with only about 10 million customers. Netflix has 204 million and Amazon has 150 million. The NFL seems to want to keep their streaming service to a minimum.

My guess is it's the networks who want this.. and they obviously pay the lion's share of the NFL's revenue and as such they get to carry a big stick in these matters.

Count me as one who never figured out the use of Red Zone.. I like to watch games, not snippets. I don't just want to switch over when a team is about to score.. I want to watch them matriculate the ball down the field. (R.I.P. Hank) .. Yes the ability to see all Cowboys games (and to attend more than one a year) was a big factor in why I chose DFW when I moved out of Cali. Not only did my mortgage drop over $1000/month but I jettisoned Sunday Ticket once they quit giving it to me free. Now I am able to watch the games that interest me through various streaming services. But let's face it.. the only games that REALLY interest me are the Cowboys.. and all I need to watch those is a pair of rabbit ears!

Red Zone Channel is Classics Illustrated and designed for fantasy players.

OIC... Makes sense now.. Fantasy football is another thing this old head never figured out a use for.. Why the hell would I care about how guys on other teams perform? Even to the point of rooting for them to go off against MY team!??! No thank you..,

Hopefully this means fans will have more options in terms of packages.
I used to have the Ticket via DirecTV but cut ties after the 2018 season. Just wasn’t worth it anymore.

Let viewers pick and choose which games they want to watch and pay as they go, and also offer larger packages for die hards who know they’re going to want access to every single NFL game, or break it down by division/conference too.
I could go with pay per game.

It's good for when there are a lot of games going on at once that you want to keep track of. Especially towards the end of the 4th quarter when they are showing multiple games at once, and including drives.
Not everyone gets the game mix channel. And not everyone has (or wants to pay for) a bunch of boxes to put games on multiple tvs.
It's not good if you want to focus on one game, but that's not always what people want.

I could see this being something like $200 a season, with a 12-mo Apple TV subscription a part of the package.

Re: Red Zone Channel.

I'm an old guy, i don't play fantasy football or gamble on games and my opinion of RZC is that it's awesome and it has revolutionized my TV viewing experience.

6 or so hours of non stop action and highlights essentially commercial free is the best. The Cowboys i watch in full every play but other than that it's action action action all day.

I love it.

There are 1.65 billion Apple devices active in the world. As of Q1, 2021, DirecTV had 15.9 million paying customers--and dwindling. It would take a little more than 9/10 of one percent of Apple users to put more eyeballs on Sunday Ticket than look at DirecTV at any time for any reason.
