It matters because like hiring puppets as head coaches it allows a scapegoat to hold accountable .

The situation with Stephen is different because of two siblings with equal shares who could become unrest with how football operations are doing.

Jethro hasn’t had to be held directly accountable to anyone . Stephen could be. That’s the difference and why I expect a different approach at least on its face .

Again why would you, as a fan, care? Why would it matter if Stephen now has a scapegoat for the team's continued shortcomings?

Not seeing anything earth shattering here. The Stephen hate is ridiculous.

Need I remind everyone that we would have Johnny Manziel if not for the "bumbling bafoon".
That’s SJ’s greatest accomplishment? Saving us from Johnny Football? 99.9% of the world knew Manziel was a disaster and we’re supposed to give him “credit” for recognizing it too?

It is earth shattering that our favorite team keeps the same front office after winning 3 playoff games in over a qtr century.

It doesn’t matter whether I care or not the point remains because of having equal partners in siblings to be held accountable publicly it’s more likely Stephen will have scapegoats in place in front office to take the fall . Something daddy hasn’t done . And hence the difference .

And whose to say Manziel might have had some success here. Depending on when he was able to play.

But this Manziel deal was over played by fans . Jethro never intended drafting Romo’s heir apparent until he retired as he said on morning of draft . He just played the media cause he knew if Johnny had success he’d be criticized for passing on him in draft .

Unfortunately this provides fans looking for hope from Jethro some type of magical moment when Cheapskate Son begun taking over or having more influence .

Problem is while we have had some better drafts in recent years we still aren’t having anymore sustained success . The toxic atmosphere is still here.

There are, no doubt, parallels between the Jones family and other family-owned sports franchises. Two good examples are the Bensons (New Orkeans Saints) and the Richardsons (Carolina Panthers).

There are notable differences, however. In most cases, family run sports franchises are characterized by succession planning and ownership issues, the Cowboys, by contrast, are characterized by (apparent) mismanagement of the team.

Below is a link to a SI article from 2018

https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/07/17/nfl-succession-family-ownership-bowlen-benson-adams-mccaskey

One notable quote from the article:

One former longtime high-ranking NFL executive puts it this way: “Trust me, the same way the public talks about head injuries or Colin Kaepernick, [the league office] talks about these ownership issues. It can be hugely destabilizing. Just look at Carolina.”

The intriguing thing about the Cowboys is its financial success and, not just for the Jones family, but the NFL in general. Despite the team's performance the past 25 years, they remain a financial powerhouse. This has always fascinated me.

Back to SJ: he reminds me of the heir- apparent to one of Europe's royal families. He will inherent the business based solely on family ties rather than hard earned experience.

Despite all of JJ's flaws, I will rue the day SJ takes over.

It was pretty big.

Not to mention he was key in our changing of philosophy in the draft room.

But let's keep bashing the guy because we haven't won a Super Bowl....

Our changing of philosophy is more credited to Will and Jason during those years.

Generally as Parcells said you have to convince Jethro to go against his instincts . Has Cheapskate Son been in Daddy’s ear more , probably but Sons biggest impact has been in contract negotiations and personnel decisions .

I’m just not sure we can translate better drafts and personnel decisions to more sustained success on the field unfortunately which is the bottomline .

We still have enough poor decisions and bust in draft along with over paying some of our more proven talent which is cumulatively preventing us from more success. Along with the undermining of our coaching staff and overall toxic culture. I’m just not sure we can say we are in an overall better place despite some better draft decisions.

I respect your opinion although I disagree. But let me ask this- name an NFL franchise that would hire Stephen as their GM? I know we can’t really know but I believe Dallas is the only place he would have a job other than in a business role.

Below are just a few of the many, many stupid and moronic comments made by the laziest executive in professional sports, Stephen “Giggles” Jones. In light of SJ’s moronic comments today about “Super Bowls not being won in the off season”, it’s worth remembering two things:
  1. He’s been saying dumb things for years.
  2. We better hope when JJ meets his maker SJ wants to hire someone to run this thing.
Here’s a walk down memory lane with links to the original stories. Each link is prefaced by an SJ actual quote.
This is a very incomplete and short list. It could three times as long, I just wanted to post a few. Is there an NFL executive this arrogantly lazy and stupid? If so, they’re probably fired in short order.

Stephen Jones is a complete embarrassment. I’m not a JJ fan. But at least he earned the right to own this team. SJ’s qualifications amount to DNA. Lord help us if this man ever completely takes over.
Lol!!! There are idiots everywhere.....some look at you from the reflection of a mirror.....you have know clue what these people do! Just like to hate....

Probably none.

But that may be bc of the perception of nepotism (which it is) than anything else. When we see that Jerry was ranked #15ish in the league for GM rankings, that is also a reflection of Stephen...so some low franchises may be interested in him if he were available and that was a possibility (which it isn't).

So, if I take my car in for a repair and the technician doesn’t fix it I can’t complain or critique his job or performance because I dont know how to fix it myself?
You do whatever you want....I'll do what I want. I know we'll enough to defend myself and complain when its warranted. I don't complain just to hear myself talk.

At what point do you begin measuring the success with the results on the field ?

But yet you complain about us to hear yourself talk. We can go thru this exercise everyday if necessary.

I’d like to see you offer a counter to our opinions and argue as such instead of just hating on us personally.

Provide a rebuttal. Bashing us isn’t a rebuttal.
