Brown, Samuel and McLaurin are all wanting new deals and planning to not report to camp.

Deebo has said he wants around $25 million per year, maybe more now. I'm sure the others won't be far behind.

Is this going to be the new norm for top WR around the league? Adams and Hill are already around $30 million per. Hopkins and Diggs aren't that far behind.

If Ceedee has a big year, I'm sure he's gonna be going for the same.

Not sure how teams are gonna work around the cap when you could have $60-70 million tied up in QB/WR

Sure glad we traded that easily restructured contract of Coopers for such value and all that cap savings we've used.
Teams are going to get balanced on offense in a hurry. RBs and TEs are going to be rising up the food chain.

Will be the new norm, I was just listening to Jalen Ramsey on the Pivot Podcast and he mentioned how he was disappointed Lattimore and some other DBs didn’t jump him in contract. It’s been done now with Xavien Howard.

Even if this follows the DB market, it might cool for a year but one of these guys will jump Tyreek sooner than later.

Well Ramsey just got his wish with the Browns Ward $105 mil deal

Perfect time to resurrect real football.

Time to feature a RB and go back to ground and pound.

Draft a bunch of road graders on OL and draft an elite RB.

I do not want to see the Cowboys enter into this sweepstakes. There are more talented players in that WR body type and skillset coming into the league every year than pretty much any other position. The college football world is full of guys who are between 5'10" and 6'3" 185-220 pounds who can run like the wind and catch the ball. Since they all start playing 7 on 7 tournaments when they're 10 years old they are coming into the league better prepared than ever to contribute from day one. Overpaying for a WR is almost as dumb as overpaying for a RB. Unless you know a guy is off the charts "special" and perhaps more importantly, you know your OC is going to use him, it makes no sense to invest heavily in that position.
I agree. I always go back to the offensive line. Invest in that. With an average or below average line the QB, RB and WR positions will be less impactful. With an elite offensive line the QB, RB and WR will be dangerous. Average QB, RB and WR will put up big stats and with an elite offensive line.

Our 2016 season agrees with you. We had a rookie QB and RB. Who were our great pass catchers? Dez, Twill, Beasley, Witten, who was a shell of his former self, a WR named Street? And some other bum. Dez didn't play how many games due to injury? Dallas didn't skip a beat in his absence.

Speaking of wide receivers and crazy pay, everyone seems to think Cooper Kupp gets a huge deal at some point. But does he?

Kupp has two years left on his contract. He's up for extension after this upcoming season. Do you give a huge long term extension to a 29 year old WR? Or do you just let him play out his remaining two years and let him hit free agency at the age of 30? Or you could trade him after this season.

The 9 figure contract is the new bar for feeling appreciated in this era of spoiled, entitled players.

It will probably go up and be like this for a few years until a WR gets way overpaid and doesn’t deliver. Like Elliott and Gurley inflating the RB market for a while.

The deals are high up there in AAV, but how often do players actually play at those numbers? Sure eventually the deals get large enough where the team has to eat dead cap and no player-if it comes to that, or they negotiate an extension like a handful of QBs do when they get near the end of their 2nd or 3rd contract- to drop the cap hit.

So, the chances of teams having a 40-45mil QB and a 25-30mil WR are first off rare and secondly GMs structure those deals to get a few years of "cheap" cap hits to try to make it work out before a tough decision has to be made.

The cap ceiling is set to blow up with the new TV deals and fans back in the seats. These numbers are stupid high being thrown around but the owners are making a lot more now too. so, the pot gets bigger for everyone and the fans get bent over on ticket and TV pricing.

Do what I do. 1) Don’t buy jerseys. Adults should dress like adults. 2) Don’t buy TV packages. Watch it on local TV or stream it illegally. 3) Don’t go to games. They’re not better than watching it on TV. Go to high school or college games if you need to get your fix.

Cowboys should draft Treylon Burks this year to hedge their bet against a Lamb holdout next offseason.

Oh right. When has Jerry ever walked away from a good player in their prime that he drafted? If I was Lamb and the Cowboys don't use a premium pick on another WR, i'd hold out this summer like Zeke did and get paid. He'll have all the leverage.

All positions will continue to go up around the league
As a pct of cap it will likely not change a lot. The elite will be higher, the good less
Nothing is really changing from the last decade other than the top line number which will continue to get higher at every position as long as the leagues revenue continues to grow

The highest revenue source is TV and that’s your local station on FOX ir CBS or what ever
As long as fans love the game the dollars will keep going up

Crazy how so few understand this. Do people really think Owners/GM’s are thinking of this when they sign these deals?

I think this fan base is so brainwashed by the way the Jones’ have been running this organization the last decade that any player that gets paid is some impossible deal that will bring the franchise down. Be afraid of the cap monster and don’t pay anyone

Exactly
If you look at pct of cap over time it stays relatively the same, just the overal number goes up
At any one time it’s higher or lower depending on age of contracts
QB’s are the one exception that’s changed since the cap era just because it’s became such a passing league but most positions haven’t really changed much depending on age of contracts. The last several years there have been a lot of really good WR came out and are coming due, the QB will blow up again when the next wave of good QB hits the market

and its doing what? make you feel better stadiums are packed in spite of some of you in this protest mode, lol

this isn't an NFL issue going all the ay back to Arods MLB deal with the rangers its all over sports the NBA, soccer, MLB etc etc pro sports, you see what Pro boxers and mma guys get for EACH fight, fight one or two times a year and make what 5omil+ are paying out excessive deals all over to top players .. ward for sure maybe a very good to great CB no way he should have got that deal..the Browns owners are pissing off the rest fo the nfl for sure,,soem dumb business moves worse then jerry has ever done.

only difference is the NFL has a hard cap, for now but the way deals are going ity doesn't look lie small market team exists anymore all billionaire ownerships so why not go nop cap and send it LOL

WR might turn into RB position next. There is a lot of good wrs and some coming out of the draft. Some of these guys are getting too greedy and will end up getting released for younger draft picks.

Player money is going to get stupid over the next 2 years before it starts to level out again. Good for them. It's up to each team to decide how to build.

There needs to be a cap set on each position to help the cap! No QB can make past a certain amount, same for all the other positions!!
