Good post! I, like most of you, keep waiting every off season for Jerry to make "that" move that will push us farther through the playoffs and that move NEVER happens. The majority of GMs in the NFL are in their 40s or 50s and Jerry is roughly 80. Those younger GMs are more willing to roll the dice when it comes to free agent moves and Jerry will not even pick up the dice anymore. We all know what Jerry did in his younger age, he rolled dice all through the day and into evening hours! He is very content winning the division today and until we finish at the bottom, I don't believe anything will change.
And the NFC East has been so bad lately we win the division by default some years.

This team needs an influx of talent at:
RB
OL
TE
WR
DL
LB

Without that, we will most likely be watching other/better teams play on Championship Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday again as we have since 1995.

You get no sympathy from millennial Cowboys fans like myself, I'll tell you that much.

At least you've experienced this franchise when it was once great. All I know is pain. The Cowboys haven't won squat since I was literally in kindergarten, and nothing this franchise is doing/has done gives me any hope that we are trending in the right direction.

I just wish the madness would end.
I have repeatedly said the fans I admire the most are the younger ones that have no winning history and the ones in other cites, especially those around East teams.

You are right, I have those years of success and that unmatched 20 winning seasons in a row to spoil me and that's part of this. We do not like to admit it but a lot of the discourse we have here is because of fan entitlement. We think we deserve more. We can't be the CLE and DET fans.

Before you go saying adios, seeya wouldn't want to beya or something else along those lines, hear me out.

I have been wondering if my loss of passion for the Cowboys is just the aging process or is there something else causing that and I think I am on to it. I do not have that proprietary attachment to the Cowboys I once had.

When I became a fan, they were my team. Really MY team, I felt more than just a fan, they were mine. I had a special relationship with them and almost felt I knew them.

No owner sends the message louder or clearer that this is his team than this one. He even went so far to tell the fans if you don't like it, plop down 140M of your own money. And since then, it's only gotten worse.

Not only do he and his son spend their time telling us that this is their team but they insult my fantelligence by trying to sell their way is the way. No other owner in sports history has spent more time trying to sell lemonade and eventually it becomes an insult. Do they really think I am that stupid? Just because I am a fan?

The bragging and boastfulness of the Joneses negates any "this is my team" thinking. It's all about them.

Tex Schramm was a master marketer and he had this knack for making the Cowboy accomplishments inclusive for the fans. I can still recall the pc when he established the largest radio network in NFL history and was responsible for establishing the Dallas Cowboys as Mexico's team, as well as New Mexico and Arizona. He made it about us, the fans. He said we were the reason that happened. It was look what we did.

This detached feeling I have when I watch this team play has become the norm so it doesn't bother me as much but when I watch them play, I know I am watching someone else's team play, not mine.

I realize there is no logic or rationale attached to being a fan but that's what has happened to me, I am now a fan because I've been a fan for so long. If not for the history, I would not choose this team today.

The problem is that I do not think I will ever get that feeling back again. That this is MY team feeling. And that makes me sad because one should never outgrow their passion.

This is not a complaint thread or a bash the owner one as I do not think he did this intentionally, it just happened because he let his ego take over. And a lot of what he's been doing is trying to chase the Jimmy Johnson ghost away but along the way he took my pride of ownership of my team away from me.

it is still my favorite NFL team but it is not MY team.
What is this thread about? We fans never had any influence on decision making. So I think you're just saying...you've given up on the front office, but not the players. Is that it?

At this rate, CLE and DET will get to Championship Sunday and the Super Bowl before us lol.

If there were a single post I'd like Jerry to read, this is the one. I honestly think he's unaware of how connected fans are, and how much he's taken away.
Jerry is not self aware, he still thinks he is the reason we won 3 SB’s in the 90’s. Period full stop

Cleveland seems to be really trying now. I wouldn't be surprised.

Depends, QB matters. Watson may never play again and I'd be surprised if Crybaby Baker gets past the divisional round in his career. They may be the 4th best team in that division if PIT drafts well and Lamar can stay healthy.

He’s also delusional enough to think he has a real shot every year! Definitely a GM who lacks awareness .. or common sense!

Interesting to see the Milennial vs Baby Boom or GenX comments in this thread. All the short and long dynasties before the 21st century like the Steelers, Packers, and 49ers all managed to win or play in several Super Bowls and Conference Championship games in the new century except for our dear old Cowboys. My only warning for anyone would be don’t live through your sports teams.

You forgot HC, OC, OLC, GM, and VP Personnel. Without these, the others don’t matter.

I've lost my connection with the team, the franchise I suppose.

The players are a reflection of the culture. And that culture states you have arrived just because you are Cowboys. And the ratings and revenue bears that out.

No one spends more time following the sports media than the players and what did the players see just this last season? Brady and Rodgers locked in a MVP duel but the story was Dak Prescott and his "slump".

As long as this team continues to lead in coverage, ratings and revenue, nothing will ever change. Thise are the big 3 to this owner.

I am sooooo with you on this....I've not spend ONE second even thinking about the draft....not ONE. Had we done anything in Free Agency, this would not be the case....but I already know with 100% certainty that we are in for ANOTHER quick exit this upcoming season. For the past few years, I've put my effort into religiously following my Dodgers....and I'm not even a big baseball fan. I'd get benched for a few days here if I penned my response to my brothers question last nite of what do I want to see in the draft Thursday. I'm just wore out mentally, and have nothing more to give this organization far as support. All I can say is blank them!!!

True, I don't think he knows how much he has alienated the fans, especially us long time fans.
I dont think jerry or the NFL cares much about the older fans, they are more into the younger crowd, future fans, and young now fans.
Coach I couldn’t have said this better. The way I tell the difference was when The Catch happened I flipped a TV tray as an 11 yr old. I used to physically feel depressed after losses. I started losing that connection the Garrett years. JG sucked the life out of me where I still was into the games but went on with life if we lost. I too feel like the Jones family treats fans like they’re stupid. Overall it’s an apathy where I still am obviously here and following but my “do or die” attitude left.
yeah that killed my being a diehard fan, and I started feeling torn, as I wanted the cowboys to win, but didnt want jg or jerry to win.
I dont care much about them winning anymore, just enjoy the circus on tv. I do like them to make playoffs though, that makes post season more fun.

I just don’t care like I used to. I’m resigned to the fact that the Cowboys won’t win another Super Bowl as long as the Jones family is running this **** show.

I used to be such a draft nerd. Now I couldn’t tell you the name of one player in this draft.
