He’ll likely finish the leader in both categories barring an injury shortened career.

Many will consider it just an accomplishment based on the era he’s playing in, but his name will be atop the rankings regardless.

Will be interesting to see how he’s viewed in 20 years.
Hell, make that 50 years. There will still be Cowboys fans screaming how bad he sucks smh.

When a thread is created here about Cowboy quarterbacks no one ever mentions Don Meredith. He was better than most people realize. He was the NFL player of the year in 1966. Drafted in 1960 he played on some really bad teams in the early 60's and got beat up a lot. He got the team to the NFL championship game (pre Superbowl) in 1966 and 1967 losing both time to an absolutely great Packer team. The second game was the infamous ice bowl. Both games went down to the final play. People scoff at his low by comparison 17000 total passing yard but when he played it was 12 game seasons AND teams did not throw the football as much. Not the greatest or best Cowboy QB but certainly worthy of a nice mention in any discussion of our QBs.
My grandpa always talks about Dandy Don and how no one appreciates him.

Game has slowly transitioned into a quarterback / WR friendly game. The majority of teams quarterback records will continue to fall not just the cowboys. If it continues on this trend years down the line Dak numbers will be looked down upon by the dumb dumbs(stat chasers)of cowboys fans...

Quarterbacks and recievers use to get blown up. Especially recievers getting mauled at the los and blown up on crossing routes. Hell you can even see the difference between the Romo and Dak eras and that's a small glimpse into the big picture.

You still get big hits on quarterbacks in today's game however even with a clear pocket you can tell players are holding up afraid of generating a penalty by accidently putting a finger on the helmet or being flagged for a late hit bs.

Honestly it's probably the biggest reasons why I'm not into football as I use to be. I'm all about player safety but the game got to soft. The protrction the quarterback has now is disgusting honestly. Ive seen bigger hits in high-school/ college soccer not called ffs. It's all about the entertainment expert now

Lol Dak will be number one in a few years, and be hated by many.

If he's hated it won't be because of his stats or rankings....it will be because he would not have won squat. To whom much is given, much is expected. That's the way it is.

Keep in mind, because of injuries, Romo only played a total of about 8 seasons worth of games. Still good enough for 24th all time in TD's. More than Steve Young (14 years) and Jim Kelly (10 years). And only 5 TDs short of Dan Fouts (15 years).

Tony's basketball background is what gave him those nimble feet, and evasive ability.

Man, I miss watching him play.
No question. In his younger years he was a mobile runner.

Not many around now that can remember the 1960's. That was a special time in Cowboy history as we watch the team grow on its way to being "America's team." What a run the team had from 1965 to 1995. Will the greatness of that era ever return? We long for the time when our QBs were Dandy Don, Roger and Troy. Those were the days....

Same could be said for almost every quarterback in the league.

Stats mean less than nothing.

yah he was an accurate bus driver. Aikmans deep ball had a lot to be desired by the way.
Really? Are you serious? Look at my other post with Aikman's highlights. Dak cannot even throw an accurate deep ball, always under or over thrown. Aikman hit his receivers in stride all the time.

some do. Completion percentage against the blitz is one example. That speaks to what’s between a qbs ears as much as the actual completion.

some of the advanced metrics can be useful. Coincidentally, I believe Stafford was the most effective against the blitz last season.

Aikman was not an accurate deep ball thrower. Finding a few throws deep be made accurate doesnt change that. But its not like he had many deep ball receivers. Aikman could throw a dart 30 yards on a rope, but that was it. If we ever had to make a big comeback using the passing game, we rarely could.

I disagree, Troy was known for taking the hits and still delivering the ball. That said, no QB is perfect when the pocket collapses.

When he only had to do it occasionally, yeah, but once he had an OL that wasn't giving him the time he'd grown accustomed to, he wasn't nearly as productive.
