This x1000.

Dak might not even be in the NFL right now if he didn't get to sit behind the best o-line and best RB in the NFL his first few seasons while he learned. How many other rookie QBs have that luxury?
Few, Marino comes to mind because he was picked down the line in the 1st.

However, that should not be held against him. He started off 3rd on the depth chart and 2 injuries put him in the 1st spot with not much prep time as the #1 and he responded to the call.

He was the best QB pick in that 2016 draft and it was luck that he ended up a Cowboy because who knows what they'd have ended up with? They wanted Lynch and Cook ahead of him.

I do respect how he responded and he has outperformed his draft pick but to even comment about being passed over in that draft is ridiculous to me.

I know you a quite a few others wish he were not the Cowboys QB but I wonder how y'all feel about just who they might have ended up with because they've proven they have to get lucky with that position. Some don't want him and some feel fortunate they have him and not one of the Tier 3 or 4 QB's.

MC. just take a good long look at that rogue's gallery between Aikman and Romo, think that could still be continuing?

He should be motivated to earn that huge paycheck he gets.
Do any of them look at it like that? Or do they look at a new deal as a reward for the past bargain they were?

The money only matters to people that follow that. Did Lawrence, Cooper, Elliott or Smith live up to their contracts?

Since I do what I can to push the money out of it, I do not rate players on living up to their contracts but what they contribute to the team. Prescott should be motivated to show up better when he faces the better teams. That, is his shortcoming to me.

He needs to play better in the 2 minute drill and stop throwing those damn 3 yard passes when we need 15. And stop choking in the playoffs. You should have a chip on your shoulder because you are a disappointment Dak.

I'm in the camp of actually trying to get a 1st round talent in here. I'll suffer through some bad years as long as we're trying to find the next Mahomes, Burrow, Herbert, or Allen. I'm not cool with the rouges gallery approach though. I'll take Dak over that any day.

The last QB we drafted in the 1st round was Troy Aikman and it started a dynasty. It's time to take the QB position serious again.

I'm completely over wasting years on 4th round/undrafted guys thinking we found the next Tom Brady just because they overachieved a little. Tom Brady is an outlier, but the doofuses in the FO think we've found him twice now. When push comes to shove those 4th round/undrafted guys ALWAYS revert back to those 4th round/undrafted skills.

blah, blah, blah. At this point, I dont give credence to a single word spoken by anyone in the off season about how motivated the team is, how hungry the team is, how disrespected the team feelsa... blah, blah, blah... it is all crapola.
The ONLY thing that matters is what happens on the field. Thats it.

The only thing his words do, is give us another few hours of discussion in here...lol

Don't just look at the QB's you mentioned, look at all of the 1st round picks.

Look at the QB's in this draft, want one of them?

If you would ask every late round or undrafted player if they were underrated... their answer would be a similar. Just because Dak feels this way, doesn't necessarily mean much.

I'm just glad to hear he's still motivated.

I have no idea how these QBs will be and I've seen 6 years worth of Dak.

The worst they could do is not lead us to a Super Bowl just like Dak and Romo before them, right?

Do it, Jerry.

No that's not the worst, we've seen worse.

Since he has been the QB, they've won 3 of 6 East championships, the Cowboys have done worse in some other 6 year spans with other QB's.

I think this is about more than just the NFL draft. My understanding is that he has always had to fight his way to the starter position.

If you're not winning in the playoffs it doesn't really matter to me.

Washington won the division at 7-9 in 2020. I highly doubt their fans look at that as successful and a reason to follow course.

Rotating winning the division every few years with the other trash teams in our division is not impressive to me.

I believe us fans need to expect better then just winning the division every year years.

He's come a long way......glad to have him. Look no further than 8-10 looking for a new QB. Hell, THREE in our own division but that doesn't mean dilly do unless we take advantage......like now!

'Dak 7': Dallas Cowboys' Prescott still motivated by QBs taken before him

Both Goff and Wentz helped their teams get to the SB...Dak is still trying to get multiple playoff seasons let alone two playoff wins in a row...

Dak was a dual-threat QB that doesn't have great arm talent or the ability to read a defense. Did he expect to be taken in the 1st or 2nd round? He's a worse overall QB right now than he was in 2016 because he refuses to use his legs. I'd take 2016 Dak over 2021 Dak any day.

He's acting like he's Aaron Rodgers getting passed up in 2005. Get over yourself, Dak.

Maybe he should worry more that its his 7th year in the league, not like his 2nd or 3rd....his career will be over and he still will be motivated i guess. 7th year, and he has regressed. Not looking good at all, shame dumb and dumber hitched their wagon to this guy. But here we are. :(
I use Dak as my motivation every day. Trying to figure out how to suck at my job and get paid like the best employee ever.

I hope he is motivated by all the QBs who go further than him in the playoffs ...... Not something that happened 6 years ago.

I'd prefer he be motivated by trying to be better than Mahomes, Rodgers, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Stafford, and Brady instead of Wentz, Goff, Lynch, Hackenberg, Brissett, Kessler, and Cook.

But then again, we are talking about Dak Prescott here, and I can easily see him being satisfied and patting himself on the back with just having the best stats out of a very weak QB draft class.
Lmao!
