Linderbaum

I'm with the Cowboys philosophy in only drafting a safety in 1st round if he's a super blue chipper.

Both fall to 24, you're name is Stephen Jones, who do you pick?

I didn't pick these two guys randomly, I picked these guys because most scouts have
high grades on both players, yet they both play neglected positions, center and safety.

Center's aren't generally looked at
in the first round, definitely not front end of the first round. Can Linderbaum play Guard, idk but it's not whats on tape?!!

Also, if you're drafting in the top 15,
your team is probably not that good and a center is not going to make or break your next season.

Kyle Hamilton should also be there based on past drafts. Safeties are generally very unloved and
neglected! Just look at the Dallas Cowboys, you would have to go back to Roy Lee WIlliams to find a premium pick we spent on a safety. Cowboys don't care about the position. Moehrig last year was super drop! Xavier Mckinney huge drop!

WIth that said, If I'm Stephen J......... "with the 24th pick overall the Dallas Cowboys select Kyle Hamilton Safety Notre Dame!"
These aren’t remotely comparable. Consensus rankings have Hamilton around 7 and Linderbaum around 23. You’d be foolish to pass on Hamilton unless you have non-public information about him.

Hamilton is considered by almost all pundits a Top 10 talent in this draft. His value is falling, largely, because of positional value in the draft. So if the Cowboys philosophy is only take a super blue chipper, Hamilton would likely fit into that category. It's not surprising that safeties drop............. Derwin James was arguably the best pure talent in the draft, definitely Top 5, and he slid all the way to 17.

There is no way in hell Hamilton falls to #24. I'd wager a lot of money he goes in the top 10.

He's so great......he's free falling lol. We'd be morons alright. Just if we do what you suggest

Derwin James was arguably the best talent in his draft and he went from a Top 5 pick to 17th because, largely, of positional value.

Parsons was arguably the most talented kid in the draft last year. But using your logic, we were dumb to take him at 12 because if he were so good why did he slide from a Top 3 pick to 12?

i never heard/missed Parsons being declared top 3 overall and arguably the top talent in the draft., but no question that he was the No.1 rated LB in the NFL draft.
But as with many top overall players, there's always the immediate red flag questions and over-guessing that befalls top prospects to slide.
(believe it or not, pre-draft skeptics were already comparing him to Jaylon Smith) .

It basically happens every year.
i still laugh at the Jones in insisting they had Parsons graded as the best defensive player in the draft, yet they were clearly eye balling not one, but two CBs
in the draft ..ahead of Parsons.

And to add to that, they traded 2 spots down risking a chance to miss him, before finally nabbing 12th overall.
In a re-do over draft, Parsons would clearly been No.2 or 3 overall, certainly top five - and certainly ahead of those 2 coveted CBs (Surtain, Horn)

I definately am under selling him...on grounds 1) we have Kearse (you need to take into account difference between existing and draftee...not between the draftee's themselves). 2) SS is useful but a secondary unit which by design is more useful in damage limitation.

I hear ya but Hamilton is basically Kearse on steroids.

Hed give us an enforcer at SS, a + blitzer and someone who could give us nickel / LBr snaps.

I'll take a free falling elite player anytime and twice on Sunday.
He's not falling anywhere near 24 so its a moot point.

Parsons fell maturity issues and a top heavy draft. Nice try though

But he fell, you added no qualifiers. Your premise is if a guy falls than how good can he really be? James fell. Guess the Chargers were dumb to take him at 17.

I mean how good was Lamb? He also fell and we took him. Guess we were dumb then too.

Lamb went where he should've. I never saw some elite prospect like yall did.

Darwin James didn't fall either. Safeties usually go around where he went.

I thought Hamilton ran a slow 40 time for a S, something like the slowest of all the safeties in the draft?

Not only that, his film is lackluster. I think people saw he was a top 5 prospect all year and just won't let it go. He doesn't play fast or have that alpha mentality but hey, experts say he's top 5 so he's top 5
