I'm a huge fan of Zion also. I think he he a prototype OC.
- 6'2-1/2", 314 but with long arms (34") is ideal for OC.
- He also is reportedly one of the most intelligent players in this draft.
- When Frederick retired, the Cowboys missed his on-field intelligence as much as his physical ability.

Agree
If Davis or Zion are there I don’t trade down otherwise I do

Belt just said Johnson was their highest rated center. So the Cowboys think a little different then you.:omg::laugh:

Per Slater, Cowboys war room divided on Zion.

Especially with his lack of experience at center.

Its always the first to laugh that exposes their ignorant arses.

What happened to Charean Williams? She used to know the picks in advance.

I think the smaller school guys back in the day were much different than in today's game. There was no media back then or a lot of these guys didn't fill out until later (Romo) or guys just stayed local to home (Bradshaw, Favre). Guys like Sweetness commited to bigger schools like Kansas State before moving to a historic black college by choice to be with his brother.

These days, we see tons of small school guys getting noticed! It's refreshing to see you don't have to go to Alabama to be noticed.

Agreed.

That is my biggest fear.

Smith [who is fine] but also trading up to get Smith.

Smith in a trade down is best case scenario if he's the pick.

Cowboys add another 3rd + get their man.

Jane said one thing, Bobby said another. No one said anything about your centers.

I wouldn't mind them drafting Smith at #24 if he moves inside to gaurd where many have said he'd be better suited.

Zion > Smith is an easy decision for me.

Smith might have a higher ceiling as he could play OT, but Zion could be an easy ten year starter at either OG or C. I'll take that at #24 any day. Stats don't lie, Zion gets it done.

Dak needs a wall and Zion is a darn good start. Smith is a 'break glass' scenario where Green/Zion are both off the board, there's no DE's and you can't trade down.

And Smith could be an elite G as well, but I already feel like Zion is there and isn't a penalty hog.

I want plug and play, not plug and pray.

My thoughts really come down to Joe Philbin. If we had a guy like Bill Callahan I would be more ok with Smith. I am not sure if Philbin can make Smith elite. Look at the regression from a lot of guys outside of Steele

I think Zion could potentially be a similar player to Frederick. Frederick could have been a Pro Bowl OG. They have done well with that type of player. Big mashers at OT. Gurode was good. I used to call him Eat Brains, because he couldn't think, he could just go out there and eat people brains. And he was good at it. Frederick was a player with the same positional skill set that had the intelligence to run the line. Zion is far closer Frederick

I really believe the team wants a future tackle, which is why they haven't shown great interest with Linderbaum and even Zion Johnson.

Which isn’t an unsound philosophy in this case.
A rare kudos to the FO if they can successfully make this happen
