Tyler smith has talent yes. But fans were told they were addressing the penalties in the off season. How have they done that? By drafting the most penalty prone tackle in the country. That’s how lol. They didn’t address OL in FA well because it’s too expensive ya know. And now they passed on a blue chip defensive end prospect with a good head on his shoulders for a project at OL.

I was pretty harsh on the pick last night, I would’ve traded down since the board didn’t go our way , but there’s nothing we can do about it now…I think we all wanted a big upgrade at LG, hopefully this is it.

This was a forced need pick and Smith is a high trait development player. They broke the first rule of drafting: trust and stick to your board.

Even if he becomes an All Pro— it doesn’t change the fact that the principles and philosophy on display is flawed and erroneous.

A terrible, tumultuous offseason, followed by a free agency period that saw the roster get worse in overall talent, followed by a panic pick in round 1 because they had not considered a scenario that both Green and Johnson would be gone.

I'd be curious to know how that conversation went. They looked set to trade down and then I guess recieved some Intel they would lose their guy if they did so. Normally you trade down because you have a few guys who are rated equally and you don't let one guy kill the deal. Unless of course Jerry is completely full of crap.
