B to B- so far. They did address a need. O-line repair was critical.

Hated it initially but after watching tape from the Ohio State game, I'm feeling better. He's raw, handsy, and his footwork is suspect at best. He's also incredibly powerful and surprisingly agile for a guy his size. There is a funky hitch in his first step and he tended to play too high, both being coachable, but if not corrected will cause some problems. Don't like him at tackle, at least until he has a few years of mentorship under Tyron, but I'm thinking he will fit nicely at guard.

He played a bit of interior line in that game. Had a tough time keeping track of him in the second half as they were moving their linemen around a good bit. From what I saw, he looked good. Struggled with speed rushers in the second half but that wouldn't be a problem at guard. It did seem like he wore down as the game went on and I didn't see him on the field on the last couple of series. Something to keep an eye on. May need to drop a few lbs but some time in the s&c program will do a world of good.

Bottom line: he's a dominant force on the line but has some technical issues that need to be fixed. He threw players around with ease at times and let them run by him at others. Will need some strong coaching and a ton of reps to be ready for the season but the sky is the limit if he's smart enough to learn from the coaches and experienced players. I'm looking forward to studying more film. He's alot of fun to watch.

Grade: B- with the potential to be an A+
I voted B because of this. . All I wanted was a Physical LG aka the Anti Connor Williams and we g it one

All other teams who drafted in the 1st round literally had better and smarter picks. Cowboys had the worst. A 1st round pick on a project that might never work out or start this season.

D. Poor value compared to other players there. This is what happens when you refuse to use free agency and have to draft for need.

It’s an F because the player was taken 15-20 picks before he would have been. If he was the guy they should have traded down and picked up very valuable picks.

Funny how espn had a whole montage of penalties ready to show when the Cowboys drafted him….if the Stealers, Patriots or Packers drafted him they could have cut that part out.

I really give it a b or b-. Biggest thing is he is a total project but hes only 20 years old. His technique is an absolute mess and maybe moving him inside will alleviate some of his penalty issues since he wont have to deal in space with athletes on the edge. We will see but his traits and age i can see it. Not a huge fan i would have taken Johnson there or even lloyd over him. But they are addressing the LOS and that is what they need to focus on even going into day 2.

C for me.

I think the talent is there to become a very good offensive lineman. However, always a roll of the dice when the player is raw in some aspects.
He may be able to mask his hand placement at guard vs most DTs, but if he goes back to his old habits I could see the flags flying vs those quicker DTs.

While I won't be "hating" on the pick moving forward I just feel like guard isn't that position you draft high. Now if he hits his ceiling and can be a starting LT, then obviously it's a great pick.

After sleeping on it, the pick was not bad. I think most of us just wanted a different player but they stuck to their board which is alright with me.
This is it.

Tennessee is a good team. They were trading to our spot to get Smith.

Most of us have been saying to address the trenches, and they did. The propensity to commit penalties is a very sore spot here, so the immediate reaction was understandable

remember last playoff game when we all saw how our lines were bullied by the Niners?….maybe the FO saw it too and is drafting accordingly to address this.
