C. They should have taken DE Jermaine Johnson IMO. I have the feeling we're going to be hearing about this pick for years to come as we have about J.J Watts.

C... Maybe he will mature and become a solid player in a couple years. I just dont pass up a Center that will most likely be another Fred for years to come, or even Johnson since we lost whats his face to Denver... Project reach pick at best...

i gave them a D and that's being nice remember he's not a true guard and if they wanted a tackle it probadly by judging the trades they could have gotten pennington

This is what PFF says about the pick (A little rosier than what's been generally posted in this thread):

24. DALLAS COWBOYS: OT TYLER SMITH, TULSA
Pick Grade: Good

Smith has had a meteoric rise in recent months. Arguably the most violent offensive lineman at the Group of Five level, Smith led the nation in big-time run-blocks a season ago. His grip strength and power are a sight to see — once his hands get locked into the defender's pads, it’s game over. The Tulsa product earned a 92.1 PFF grade that ranked fourth among FBS tackles in 2021. He was even better from Week 6 on, too, as he graded out at 94.2 over the back half of the season. Smith is going to have a steep learning curve to start, but he is young at just 21-years-old. -AT

B with a chance to be an A.
i love his physical traits and his physical style of play.
he's young but raw.
with guys like tyron smith and zack martin...he has a chance to develop into an A player.
like the player.
good pick.
he'll start day 1 and be a tremendous aide to our run game.
he is one helluva blocker in the run game.

They showed a video of Linderbaum wrestling Tristen Wirfs in college. And pancaking him. It was very impressive.

He understand leverage. That's huge in the middle of an o-line
Right on. The guy comes a pro set offense. Dominated. Really one of the best C prospects in while. To say he is too weak and small is laughable.

I have no idea if he any good. All I hear is that he's talented, but a penalty machine.

He will fit in perfectly in Dallas

Linderbaum would have been a far better pick. Also, that DE that dropped would have been a good pick. But maybe he dropped for a reason I don't know about
I heard character issues.

I liked it. Don't follow college ball like I used to, but XWalker did a breakdown of his penalties and a lot of them were for basically punishing a defender past blocking him. I believe that can be fixed but I like the mean streak. I watched quite a bit of his film after reading XW's post and they kid looks like he has all the tools.

The draft is a crap shoot and all they can do is their homework and hope the kid works out. I for one am excited to see him next to Tryon and see what he can do. We potentially have a massive upgrade, but time will tell.

All I know is that Tyler is a planet theory prospect who just turned 21. At least Dallas didn’t draft a 25 year old project who still needs to gain strength in Raimman…that would have been drafting for need because they needed to draft an Olineman.

Linderbaum was never a consideration for Dallas.

true so why give them a C?? Just because you are cowboys fan?
I gave them a d because there is a chance he surprises us, but really should have given a F
This is not the guy you pick in rd 1, trade back and get more picks. Philly used 1 pick and traded the other rd 1 pick, as they are smarter
than the jones boys.

I think the jones boys just have to have a pick in rd 1, and will never trade a rd 1 pick in the draft for more picks, which is a big flaw.
Gave a C because they been pretty good at drafting Oline as of late. So I have faith Smith is possibly another. C is a neutral choice.
I agree with your POV on trades in rge 1st but unfortunately SJ is proving to be more ignorant at this than JJ..

I’ll say B. He’s raw but they need a mailer at LG and he fits the profile if he can develop.

Maybe B-

I think the guy sounds great at LG, they say he's a real mauler and is very good at blocking for the run.
I'd give the pick a B "IF" they can control the penalties, if not then C.
I saw enough stupid holding penalties from Connor Williams to last me for a long time, we don't need a repeat performance of that.

D+ on its own merit....F when considering
they could have had Linderbaum

We have a serious need for a G. Nevertheless, Linderbaum is a highly rated C and we could use an upgrade at C as well.

He is a project. You need to pick a starter in the 1st round. He isn't starter material.

Stephen tried to sell us that we didn't have holes. Well, we do. That's what happens when you have no clue on how to assemble and NFL team.
At G he might be a starter, but not at OT.

Most of us have been saying to address the trenches, and they did. The propensity to commit penalties is a very sore spot here, so the immediate reaction was understandable

remember last playoff game when we all saw how our lines were bullied by the Niners?….maybe the FO saw it too and is drafting accordingly to address this.

Granted I don't think they'll bully Tyler Smith.
