We've watched Terrance Steele go from somewhat awful to our starting RT in just two years to the point the team felt comfortable releasing Collins. I've been pretty down on Philbin's personnel decisions with LG but he's seemed to do a good job developing talent. Hopefully this will bode well for the concerns we all seemingly have about the Tyler Smith pick.

I hope you are right. But he hasn’t really developed Biadasz or McG yet. Smith has a lot of upside and a high ceiling and everything points to him having a solid attitude and work ethic.

That said— he is not exactly a plug and play LG— hopefully he makes the transition and benefits from playing with Tyron and Zack. Then again— we may have simply replaced a penalty ridden LG with an even more penalty ridden player lol

True, but both of those guys weren't McCarthy and staff picks. Steele was, so hopefully they know what they want and how to develop them.

The team “felt comfortable releasing Collins” because they’d rather do things the easy way than actually learn how beneficial trade and FA transactions work. They released an AP caliber OT on a great contract for squat. Never ever use that roster move as an indication of anything other than this FOs ineptitude.

Now than, your point about Steele improving is solid and one of the few positive spins in this I’ve seen that wasn’t just hyperbolic self serving nonsense.

Alot of that is on Steele. Coaches these days can only do so much, and alot improvement from players comes from what they put in themselves. Steele put the work in last offseason. NFL has really limited what a coach can do in the offseason. Luckily Smith seems like a self starter

Chuckles was on The Fan 105.3 at noon and was talking about Smith stepping in and immediately "backing some guys up" and hopefully "getting some time
on his own....huh???? I am sorry, but when you have a team that can't get out of the first round of the playoffs, your 1st rounder BETTER BE A STARTER!!! Because that is what Plug & Play Tyler Linderbaum is going to be Day 1 for Baltimore....not to mention a Pro Bowler....this whole organization if a *******joke!!!

He didnt actually say he was going to be backing anyone up. He said he could work the left side and slider over if Tyron gets hurt. He said he would compete with McGovern, but we all know what they think of McGovern

Collins was never an all pro player. Stop it. He lived of the backs of Tyron and Zach. When the Cowboys needed him the most he let us down. You can’t forgive that.

I think that we may have another slight advantage with Duke Manyweather training offensive linemen in our backyard. I think a lot of them gravitate toward working with him. As I recall, Steele did.

Guys like that are big in todays NFL. I really dont like the limitions they put in coaches, but the upside is it's created a market for these kind of professionals

At LG I just want someone who can anchor in pass blocking and not keep getting pushed into the QB.....hopeful but not optimistic
