we all know that’s a blatant lie. But they’re going to sell the pick hard to the fan base, and a good percentage of those fans are going to lap it up. There’s zero chance they had him that high
You know someone has screenshot Jerry holding up our rankings already...

WHAT AN IDIOT!!!:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Just a matter of time before the world knows who we are picking.

Locked On Cowboys saying there were 3 teams that wanted to trade up with us, but after we caught wind of the Titans we elected to stay put.

They also said we tried to trade up for Olave but didn't offer enough. Our other trade up targets were Drake London and Cross.

If you're telling me our options were to trade away picks to draft Olave or to stay put and draft Smith, then I'd say I'm glad we're too cheap to trade up.

Total bull****! I don’t believe anything from him. That is just Jerry trying to soften the blow of the selection and to lessen the questions of the Johnson pass. We may have another Taco!

We may but the situation is completely different. Taco was at a major college, coached up and played well with marginal athletic abilities.

Smith had little coaching and underachieved, with exceptional athletic abilities. They also appear to have entirely different attitudes.

So is it easier to coach and train athletic traits into a player or technique? Smith has a better chance at being something special. Taco had a limited ceiling capped even further by a weak mindset.

I sure hope your right but the Jones had him rated as the 16 best player on their draft board; which if they believe that to be true, then it shows clearly that these morons don’t know hat they are doing. 16 should be a plug and play type player not a cross your fingers type player. I would love to be at the press conference for this player just to pose questions to these fools.

Well, he's their 16 player and he committed 16 penalties last year. Fits

What I posted was in jest. He'll have to be coached up to avoid those penalties!

Our OL coach has lots of work to do before he's ready to play. He'll be a project.

Looks like we'll have to see how this thing plays out. Seems our GM's mistaken.

Apparently, it's Jerry offering hype . . . Tyler Smith is anything but plug and play!

Same morons that traded down and reached for Travis Fredrick. We all crapped on that pick too. I do NOT like defending the Jones boys, but I do have some degree of faith in Will McClay and his ability to find oline early.

As far as plug in play I expect he starts at Guard this year. If he's not in the starting line up I'll join yall in crapping all over the pick.

The Cowboys grade must have been almost exclusively from game tape and his pro day, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Smith's combine numbers were not great. He was 13th fastest for OL in the 40 at 5.02 - which is pretty good for an OG although he was beat by a few OGs. He was 21st in the vertical (27.5"), 30th in the broad jump (8'9"), 18th in the 3 cone drill (7.78) and 14th in the shuttle (4.65). His teammate Chris Paul (OG), beat him in all of these drills. He did not bench press from what I can see.

Not that the combine results are everything, but the point is the Cowboys saw something else in him that they rated him so highly.

This is what we'll get when our FO is hesitant to resolve their OL needs with BS about being "good to go."

Thanks, front office! Our gallant leaders in the FO should have covered their fannies with a vet FA signing.

That's what we get from the Jones execs when they prefer to cover up a critical need with misinformation!

Well you know that follows reason does it not? 16 would have a 2nd round grade on him?

Yes... it should have been a trade down to double your chances at second round players. Don't pick at #24 if you are settling for a 2nd round talent. Oddly enough, it's not a wild speculation to think that Tyler Smith could have been there in the second round.

Yes yes, I know ... it takes two to tango.

I'm not doubting the pick at 24, just the 16th best comment. Dallas thought Tyler Smith was superior at playing the game of football over FIVE of these guys? That's so... odd.
They lie.....a lot.
