That you put stock in reporters is sad. Whatever Jerry is a genius and averted disaster. That better?

That you can't comprehend that multiple people saying the same thing probably have some truth to it is sad. Do better.

I get what people are saying about his hips but his power is incredible and he has not really learned how to use leverage through knee bend and pad level. We haven't had power at LG since Leary moved on.

I ask this: show me examples of penalty machines in college that were not in the pros. Give me examples and I will feel a lot better about this pick.
16 penalties, 12 of them holds. No film or tape is going to explain that away.

……unless Ed Hochulis has a grandson coaching NCAA Football.

The issue isn’t as much Smith the player. It’s Smith at 24. If he was their guy they could have traded down and grabbed him in the second round. Probably 15 picks later. They could have picked up another top 100 pick with that trade. Time and again these idiots fumble the value of players.
He was the best tackle left. He wasn't going out of the late 1st round because teams needed him around there. This is like saying Travis Frederick was a bad pick because he had a 2nd round grade. That proved to be wrong. I like the pick in theory but he's definitely not a perfect OT.

Seven of those 12 holds came in 3 games- Ohio State he had 3, OK St. and Cincinnati had 2 a piece. That's every good team they played.

Maybe someone already corrected you but Tenn tried to move up for Dallas’s picked and later said that was who they were going to take. So he wouldn’t have been around later.

with that said I don’t really like the pick

So he will be perfect at guard for now.
From what I'm hearing he has a strong base, really good run blocker, and plays with a mean streak.

The Cowboys can work with that. His technique was bad which led to the penalties. Hopefully with good NFL coaching that could be cleaned up a bit.

Tyron Smith is a technician. I think he will teach Tyler a few tricks of the trade.

Playing right next to him will be good and he'll likely be Tyron's replacement at LT in 2-3 years.

I don't love the pick but I can see the vision of why they picked him - projecting longterm is wise.

Love the need. Im ok with the pick. I would have taken Jermain Johnson there.

What many said about Frederick. Might have even been true.

Big, athletic, young LT prospects don't grow on trees. He fits our needs better than most teams. We have a slot on the oline to plug and play him while we improve his technique for LT. IF a good deal comes along, just pull the trigger. If you get cute trying to squeeze every drop of value out of a situation, you'll often lose the deal.

I saw some tape on this kid and all I would like to know is who the hell is coaching this kid? His hand placement is just terrible, he has no idea how to use leverage and on some of the plays that he pulls and he flat out dives at the guy. So a lot of his lack of skills I blame on the coaching staff or what is worse he just doesn't have the talent to make the necessary adjustments to be a much better player.

Is that a defense of him? Because all that is telling me is he struggles against better quality opponents. It doesn't get easier in the NFL.
we don't play tough teams in the east, so he will be a beast

duh we play for the division, that's our super bowl now. sheesh, new fans. lol
