Initially, i thought this would be a battle for a spot between these two...

Jerry said that they were happy for the change in philosophy and to have two behemoths.

Said it was an effort to get better in the playoffs....i like it.

I don’t know about both playing
That would be hard just from a numbers standpoint on the game day roster
On paper they look similar but on the field ridgeway is a really good player at controlling the center and either gap. He’s smart, keeps his head up reading the play.

What’s funny is Bohanna was purported to be an athlete for his size after the draft. I hadn’t looked at his numbers in a while and it’s clear he’s nothing special in terms of relative athleticism.

They were taken 14 picks from each other too

Bohanna did lose like 30lbs between the season and whenever he did his weigh in. How well can he play at 330? He really didnt stand out against the run last year. Ridgeway has never been as big as Bohanna was in college. I wonder if that weight difference effected Bohanna

I dont think its a lock Ridgeway beats him out, but Bohanna has to stand out more against the run instead of just being there or he'll lose his role. He played about 220 snaps last year

That’s exactly what I noticed, keeps his head up to dislodge to make a tackle, not just rushing with head down.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of shape Bohanna comes in this season. Hopefully, he’s been in the weight room and adding strength.

I almost shed a tear when he said it!
I may have underestimated McCarthy's knowledge and influence on the roster. He, apparently, kept saying, "think playoffs" when it came to certain guys.

We got bodied, again in the playoffs, and they are now taking steps to fix it.

Ya i am hopeful that he has gotten into a big jar of "peanut butter" (as Voch would say lol) and is just an absolute beast.

I think it is very possible.

I dont think putting the weight back on is what you. In todays NFL 360 lb DT's are pretty easy to scheme a running game on. Ideally you want him much stronger at 330

Ridgeway just looks like the more active player. Better motor and stronger in the upper body. Doesn’t guarantee that he pushes Bo off the team. You’re going to get the best of whatever Ridgeway has got. He will be prepared and he ain’t gonna back down form anyone on that OL.

I was wondering if they were going to add another NT to go along with another OLB and they did.

We are definitely a hybrid front because DLaw, DA, and Basham are on the roster and have no business moving inside to the 4. With this draft, now we have starters and depth for an even or odd front.

Wish for nothing but the best for both of them. Big Bo didn't really stand out much last year. I like the player but he needs to show something other than eating space to keep his spot.

Ridgeway looks like a player. I've only watched the Georgia game and don't have much to work off of but it wasn't hard to see how he affected defensive play when he was in. It should be noted that the Razorback linebackers were awful. JR either occupied two blockers, giving lanes for the lb's to shoot and make the play....or he was single blocked and more often than not blew the play up himself. He's strong at the point of attack and maintains good pad levels for the most part but there were times he was caught off balance and ended up on the ground. It was far from a regular occurrence, but it did happen. Not much in terms of pass rush but he wasn't a ghost out there either.

If he's not doubled, he's going to be a problem for most guards and centers. This opens up single blocks for Micah, DLaw, and the rest of the bunch which I imagine will lead to more pressure. He's stout against the run and does a pretty good job disengaging blockers to make the play if it's in his neighborhood. Looks like a plug and play 1t and should help upgrade the run defense immediately. I like this pick alot and think he has the tools to be a strong asset for the team.

Did he seriously say that one of four 5th round picks is an effort to get better in the playoffs?
