Considering Jalens closest comp is Gallup, it’s even more disappointing to me that they kicked Amari to the curb and re-signed Gallup after his injury, while drafting his clone.

Personally i’d much rather have Amari at his (restructured) salary alongside the Gallup replacement draft pick

I was a big Cooper fan, but I am not disappointed. The WR gameplan change will be fun to watch. I think Lamb will do stuff we have not seen before or seen much of, and Pollard should have a greater role. With the new additions, it will still be a strong offense.

Damn fine post but I have a feeling that Amari was jettisoned due to turbulence with Dak. AC simply wanted the ball more and more and it would appear the Cowboys bailed on him to avoid any future rocking of the boat. Just my two cents. Doesn't matter now: done deal.

Also, it should be noted AC was nicked up quite a bit too.

yeah, that does seem to be the case but they’ve proved a formidable for a few years now you’d think it could be smoothed over. and despite his nicks Amari has missed next to no games.

but as you said what’s done is done

The FO was supposedly furious about his COVID situation. Between him, Collins and Gregory, any player that cost themselves chances to be on the field in circumstances they could control got them kicked off. They want players who will sell their soul to win

yeah and i get that, but outside of this situation where it was mandated he couldn’t play, Amari played in a flak jacket with broken ribs last season. just seems like a weird line in the sand. especially as gallup was sidelined with a soft tissue injury for two months

Cowboys fans….. Gallup signed a much cheaper deal, Cooper would not have taken a pay cut and most importantly Amari ran out his welcome with the front office.

His closest competition won’t be Gallup it will be the other receivers we have. We didn’t draft him to replace Gallup. He’s a Cedric Wilson replacement. He may develop into a very good NFL receiver but only time will tell.

I agree. But I get their reasoning. I would have kept Cooper over Gallup all day. But Cooper had that injury that lingered into TC last year that was weird also. I don’t think he did everything he could to get himself ready for the year. He’s just a gamer.

Cowboys weren't happy with Cooper. He seemed dinged a lot. Not sure he would restructure. Add it up and it's easy to see why the Cowboys moved on. This kid they drafted is a baller and won't disappoint. Rookie salary too.

I was a big fan of Coopers route running , even keel , no Diva approach, but was disappointed last year, he was injured or sick ( by choice) or ineffective mostly at crucial games. Looked like going through the motions but not giving all he got. That didnt sit well with team also ( Read Jerry )

I loved Coop, and he had a couple great seasons here (that trade year he came in and basically saved the season was fantastic), but I do think it was time for a change. Between his constant injury status, production going down, and his Covid stance vs his salary, it was just time.

i disagree. He made big plays and took big hits making catches. When he was featured, he was a number 1. COOP

i like him not taking the vaccine. you guys assuming he would not have failed a test had he gotten vaccinated is b.s.

Who says Tolbert is a Gallup clone??? Tolbert is a route technician. His game has a lot more similarities to Cooper's than Gallup's.

Lets assume that you are right , if he made big plays when mattered ( 2021) , he should be worth more than 5th round ( exchange pick) even when the owner telegraphed they are going to cut him . Please tell me why it isn’t so ?
