a bunch of profiles and comparisons and posts here
Tolbert's size and measurables are similar to Gallup's but his game is very different.

Edit: Hm. Maybe I'm wrong. All I heard before the draft, and on the Draft Show tonight, was that Tolbert was a Dak-friendly routi runner. Then the first post-draft writeup I read describes what sounds like Gallup and says Tolbert needs help with route running.

Did everyone forget about James Washington.

It's going to be Lamb, Gallup, Washington, Brown, Tolbert, then Simifok.

Tolbert may jump Brown, but he's 4th at best in the receiving corps.

I just hope if we don't loose a promising UDFA WR on waivers because we signed Noah Brown...time to start churning the roster and get rid of ALL the do nothings.

Considering Jalens closest comp is Gallup, it’s even more disappointing to me that they kicked Amari to the curb and re-signed Gallup after his injury, while drafting his clone.

Personally i’d much rather have Amari at his (restructured) salary alongside the Gallup replacement draft pick
Me too.
Wondering what was going on behind the scenes?

I wish they’d go after Landry

Watch his highlights on youtube. He is a good route running receiver. We were lucky to get him. He is good.

Brown isn't a do nothing. He is a good depth guy. The team is in good shape.

Brown does some blocking, is a core player on special teams and has started contributing a small amount on offense. I don’t have a problem with him on the roster but I don’t see how he prohibits further investment either.

Damn fine post but I have a feeling that Amari was jettisoned due to turbulence with Dak. AC simply wanted the ball more and more and it would appear the Cowboys bailed on him to avoid any future rocking of the boat. Just my two cents. Doesn't matter now: done deal.

Also, it should be noted AC was nicked up quite a bit too.

They went away from him and featured Lamb because they didn't want to pay him. I knew when I saw Amari's deal structure that he'd have to be damn near an all-pro to make it past year two. It backfired now that wr are making so much more now.

Dak needs to get thicker skin, that is the 2nd WR he got rode out of town on a rail.

The FO was supposedly furious about his COVID situation. Between him, Collins and Gregory, any player that cost themselves chances to be on the field in circumstances they could control got them kicked off. They want players who will sell their soul to win
This is the way it should be. Every player has to want to not only be a Cowboy but be available and willing to play. We fans should be glad this front office is finally starting to hold players accountable.

I’m ok with the shape the WRs are in. AC was inconsistent and had injury issues. Lamb was always the plan. It’ll be interesting to see, if Lamb really is the #1 wide receiver most of us think he is. I kinda have my doubts, could still turn out inconsistent.

I agree and I also think Cooper publicly saying he wanted more targets was the nail in the coffin. Eerily similar to Dez. Dez was not producing as well as he could have and publicly complained about the offense. If I was a receiver for the Cowboys I would lay on the love for Dak in the media, just for job security.

I wish we'd stop looking at players, 'names' and contracts in isolation. This offense (like it or not) is built around Dak a QB that is risk averse (even when a good route runner gives him partial seperation)....he likes his 3/4 TE options. If that's the case there's no point in paying $22m for a technician that won't be used.
As for the contract, yes in isolation we could of restructured Amari as the Brown's did, however, we've taken that road with DLaw and we aren't structured financially to push money into 2023.
We've cut a 'name' and money for Talbot who at fraction of the cost (and increased scheme purpose variety) will hopefully still give us a 65.4% (or close to) reception rate.

Health decisions. Unclear whether getting the shot would cost themselves more chances to get on the field in the long run.

My take is the FO saw the writing on the wall with Amari frequent injuries and contract imbalance

this is a somewhat odd and confusing response to my point. i’m saying i’d rather have had talbot replace gallup (at a fraction of the price) than Amari. if their play style is so similar, it makes more sense to me to have an amari and one, instead of two gallups. not to mention gallup is no longer cheap and also coming off of injury. and just as an aside, Dak has proven quite capable of utilizing Amari over the years.
