Initially I felt we had a solid draft in terms of needs being met. But thinking on it, the fact that they used the loss to San Francisco as motivation to draft a certain type of player, made this draft even better in my eyes!!

Their goal was to get bigger, and meaner etc, I think they did that well! Please give your thoughts on this!!

I reiterate my position the reason the Cowboys lost was two-fold.

1) they were totally emotionally flat for 3 Qtrs, and undisciplined for all 4 (penalties). This is coaching.

2) they barely used Tony Pollard who hurt SF over and over the year prior. He touched the ball I think only 5 or 6 times in the playoff game- and one was a 100 yard KO return for a TD. This is ALSO coaching.

With today's team I don't think San Francisco would rush for over 150 yards and I don't think they would have as many pressures and sacks as they did. I also don't think our WRs/TEs would get held up as badly by the DBs.

I need to see these draft picks play first. Still too many question marks for my liking. I'm not going to expect a 5th round pick to come in and solidify our DL and improve our run defense in his first year.

If these new guys come in and play at a semi high level,(lets say LVE rookie year level) then i think we'll be pretty good. Anything below that will have us bounced after the first round again, if we even make it that far. Only time will tell

I think one of the biggest problems in the 49ers game was that we had no LBs and had to play Micah there more than usual and couldn't have him free lance as much and rush the passer as much. Maybe we solved that and maybe we didn't. We still have free agent dollars to bring in a couple of players though, so I'm waiting to judge until I see the week 1 roster. Admittedly LVE played pretty well that day and next year we have my favorite Jabril Cox in the mix, but I still want a slobber knocker LB to help against the run and a dominant DT to do the same. Our other huge issue was of course the OL play and hopefully with T Smith 73 and the perhaps Ball pushing Steele (or Steele continuing to improve) and Farniok pushing Biadasz (or Biadasz improving a lot) the OL will be much improved. Personally I'd still sign Tretter and a LB or DT and then be a lot happier. The offseason isn't done yet IMO

I think their lack of activity in free agency is gonna bite them in the butt!
We had so little draft capital and lost so much talent in free agency.
A bad off season for sure

When they decided to feature Zeke after rushing him 20 times the week before this was all over.

Penalties and Zeke. Which does relate to coaching. But lets be honest, the entire Cowboys team went in the toilet that day. I cant think of one player that played well.

Great offseason. Any overpaid veterans we lost have already been replaced. Getting rid of those veterans were part of why the offseason was great. Cowboys made the steps they needed to help become a contender. They werent properly built before. Instead of holding onto overpaid veterans, Jerry is finally doing the right thing and getting rid of them.

That's one of my biggest problems with this organization.

Everything is reactionary.

If a 5th round 1 tech is supposed to make all the difference, why didn't you already have two of them?

Next year teams will exploit another weakness and we will draft to correct that.

Yeah, for all the talk about how bad things were, I dont really see us being any closer or further away than before.

No type of draft or signing is going to compensate for your better players not showing up when it counts.

Are we better or worse? Let you know in January.

Being great on paper was never kind to any of us.

I think Jerry mentioned something about it after the Ridgeway pick.

Hence my comment above.

I didn't hear the context though.

There's a tweet out there about the kid talking about Farinok and Biadasz and that isn't at all what he meant if you heard the comment

We had loads of talent last year, it was just in some of the wrong places. We are younger now, similar in talent with more upside and a better roster from a team building standpoint going forward. And we have given ourselves a chance to be in great position with the salary cap going forward.

can we stop rehashing that 6point loss, it's long over.,,.

we lost over 14 penalties, thats it ..some here act as if we were dominated ..6 point loss says otherwise made all the mental mistakes and lost.. thats it, wasn't a lack of talent or truly coaching, coaching cant hold players hands and stop them from getting penalized. Thats folklore this isnt HS where you can punish players, not even college with 90+ players to choose from and deep in talent its 53man roster with cap..grow up we lost because we made mistakes and many of those players got cut or traded this offseason and fans are upset about it they were the knuckleheads that didn't show up in big games or at all...
