I knew when we picked Sam Williams in the 2nd round we were dead to Mel.

I didn't think he'd give us the lowest grade in the league along with the Patriots though.

actually espns draft coverage was messaging and hype. nfl network was better, not great. The best coverage was actually on DC.COM and the draft show. I watched that mostly.

Yeah, no. They don't even cover every pick. They completely ignored most of our 5th round picks to instead do a review of Day 1 in studio while current picks are being made. They didn't cover the Harper pick either.

Their coverage is garbage.

I think they did a nice job of breaking down the picks. Yes they were slow, but they delved into each guy and I enjoyed the players calling in. I guess it depends on your fave flavor.

It really wasn't a good draft on paper. Anyone saying otherwise has homer cope coming out.

It just wasn't good.

I get the opinion Smith and Williams are your true boom or bust prospects. They both could be the best at their position or well be talking about the players we passed on.

Some of you seriously projecting 5 starters from this draft…

There is being positively and then being positively delusional.

They provided no analysis on the Waletzko, Clark, Ridgeway or Harper selections as they happened.

My flavor is actually providing some kind of breakdown on the picks being made and not passing it off to a studio review of Day 1 of the draft while Day 3 is taking place.

Some of the criticism of ESPN and Mel Kiper is just silly. Every pick we made they addressed.

Considering where we drafted at I think we did about as well as we could have. But leaving known names on the draft board is unforgiveable to some. They draft for their needs not the fans. I think Kiper is over rated.

Yes, look at them. Neither has a throwback 1985 TE starting for them.
I know it kills you inside, but FB is still played between the hashes and in the trenches. Its a physical war inside. Win that, chances of winning go up. Now would I rather have 1 of each, a pass catching TE and a pure inline blocker? Heck yes...but that wasnt really an option for us by the time we made the pick. Woods was way gone.

And here i was under the impression that all draft picks were technically unknowns.

Just look at the HOF for perspective. Count the number of first and second rounders in their compared to all others. It is a crap shoot based on potential, nothing more.
exactly. Its no different than when u interview a guy for a job and then hire them. Many times the fail rate is better than 50/50. Its the same in FB...we just don't know. They might work for you for 5 years or they might be terrible employees and be gone in a few days. Same in the NFL. Its the human element.

Exactly.

Mel went on and on about how the colts were stupid for tking Edgerrin James over Rickey Williams lol

The guy has no idea what he is doing.

And the fact that ESPN has allowed to spew his rubbish just says all one needs to know about that network.
