That was prior to the 1994 season I believe? Or was that before 1995? In 1995 the Colts just barely missed getting to the SB in a close game against the Steelers. Right after Kiper responded by saying that's why the Colts are a laughing stock every year.

Yet another example of how poor Mel Kiper is at evaluating talent.

and....? Its still football. You still win in the trenches and by moving the chains.

Exactly, and I love how we focused on the trenches in this draft. It's smart. The rest of the team falls into place nicely if the trenches are top notch.

I knew when we picked Sam Williams in the 2nd round we were dead to Mel.

I didn't think he'd give us the lowest grade in the league along with the Patriots though.

I don't give a **** what Mel thinks. I care about what's best for the team, and the trenches needed upgrading and fixing. We did that. I'm happy with the draft, especially if Tyler Smith can reduce his penalties. Putting him at LG will help, and we have a massive need there. So, all in all, I like this draft. It was smart.

Well, cuz last I checked, Jerry's not drafting to appease Mel Kiper. A bloke who has probably never even put on a helmet. He is drafting for what the Cowboys need. Do I necessarily agree with the players themselves taken? Not all of them, but I agree wholeheartedly with the positions taken. Want to be able to run the ball on Washington? You better fix your online. We did that. Want to replace Gregory? Better have a big DE. We got that. And we got a safety blanket TE, which we haven't had since Jason Witten, and a 1T in John Ridgeway. I'd say that's a good draft.

You have no idea if they fixed anything.

How do you know for sure that we fixed our OL?

Yeah, but the intent was there, and I like the idea of what they're trying to do. I disagreed with the taking of Tyler Smith because of the penalty issues and because I wanted Linderbaum. That said, I can definitely see him doing well at LG, and we have a big hole there. Sam Williams, imo, is a player that I think will do well with Quinn, and I trust Quinn on defencive players. If that's who he wanted, then brilliant! I'm sure he will turn him into a monster.

Well, for one thing, it'd be hard for Tyler Smith to be worse than Connor Williams. So, that right there is at the very least improving the oline if not fixing it.

Did you know Connor had more bench press reps at the combine than Tyler did at his pro day?

I get the feeling fans are wearing blinders on this first round pick.

As stated, I preferred Tyler Linderbaum, but I think Tyler Smith will do well. It's obvious the FO wanted him and the coaches think they can develop him. They did the meetings, scouting, and such with him. Obviously they want him, so, I think we will do well with him. Could be wrong, but I do like what I've seen of him in highlight videos. I can see him being a powerful LG.
