A lot of people are down on the Cowboys draft class, why should Kiper be any different? Because he's always right? I'm not exactly jumping up and down either. But if last year told us anything, all it takes is for a few players to break out to make a difference. Parsons and Diggs transformed our D. I'm not expecting it to happen again, but it's not something you can predict.
Diggs was from the previous draft and maybe we get a player from the 2021 class to step up and out?

This season is a lot more about that 2021 draft class than this one.

I tend 2 always go with the opposite of whatever Mel says. He is never right. CBS sports has a completely different take. Espn is agenda driven and biased against all things Cowboys.

You wouldn’t be saying that if he loved our draft and gave us high grades. lol One fan referred to Kiper as a tool because he was critical of a couple of our picks. All these draft experts get ripped unless they have glowing reviews of our picks. I’m sure you’re all on board with CBS considering their take on our draft was better. lol

Part of his criticism stems form his love of the draft NYG and PHL had so by contrast, the Cowboys did not have a great one.

I think putting it that low doesn't make sense because I would still put it in the middle of the pack. However, on paper, NY and Philly scored.

When Dean gets healthy, we are not going to like playing him twice a season because he defines sideline to sideline and football smarts. He's like an athletic Sean Lee.

All of these people have to grade the drafts and some have to get the Cowboy factor going for clicks and views.

Many assume the message is from the messenger and it is often scripted, it is a formula for ratings.

This is the same guy that called A. Rodgers the biggest bust of all time...all picks from the 1st to last player taken, are all bust until proven otherwise..

As stated, I preferred Tyler Linderbaum, but I think Tyler Smith will do well. It's obvious the FO wanted him and the coaches think they can develop him. They did the meetings, scouting, and such with him. Obviously they want him, so, I think we will do well with him. Could be wrong, but I do like what I've seen of him in highlight videos. I can see him being a powerful LG.

Hard for a player to look bad in highlight videos, although in many that I've seen he's still going wide with his hands and holding.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with Mel. I see what he's saying about these picks.

We really screwed the pooch this year.

Hey Mel, the draft is a crap shoot, just like your opinion.

They all have opinions and they’re not always right. Evaluating players coming out of college has never been an exact science. Teams have been wrong on players just like the draft experts. At least 30% of this draft class will turn into busts or very average players at best. If you look through the top 10 of the draft over the years at least a couple go bust. I remember one year four players in the top 10 went bust.

The same guy who had a quarterback projected 7th overall, but got drafted behind two other quarterbacks in the third round?

Like someone said “if Mel Kiper was any good, he would’ve held at least one NFL scouting position“.

Fun fact: There’s more Undrafted free agents in the Hall of Fame than first round picks!

Wait. I forgot that we always draft well all of the time constantly.

Disregard my above comment.

"If Mel was any good he would taken a massive pay cut and lifestyle change and moved his family to wherever to be a scout."

Joe fans.

And by writing this on the COWBOYS he just got more hits on his article than all his other draft grade articles combined. The power of saying bad stuff about the Cowboys is strong.

I’m not talking about now, keyword being “held“!

Being an executive for player personnel isn’t necessarily a pay cut to Mel Kiper.

I am guessing Mel said the Ravens had the best draft class once again. Like most classes if the Cowboys hit on let’s say Smth, Williams and on of the other 7 picks it will be a successful draft. Fans seem to hat on the 2018 draft because of LVE but that was one of the best drafts in the league that year.

Some of these A’s teams have been given for the draft will turn into B’s, C’s and even some D’s in 2 to 4 years. Draft grades change once these players hit the NFL field. Some go up and some go down. I’ve never taken draft grades seriously. Your grade is based off the players draft grade and what your needs are. Your first two picks account for most of your draft grade. If everyone loves your first round pick you’re not likely to do any worse than a B minus regardless what they think of the rest of your picks.

I have known Mel from the beginning. The very beginning. He would have been a scout had not the Colts left Baltimore. This was 1 year after his first real Blue Book in 1982 with Jim McMahon on the cover. up until the early 1990's, we stayed in touch. Then there was the break through "Who in the Hell is Mel Kiper". I literally knew Mel from the birth of his Daughter to his Daughter being an adult telling me Mel would no longer print the blue book.

But we shared a love to scouting, drafting, prospect, and projecting NFL players. How could you not love the NFL draft being a Dallas Cowboys fan. Their first pick was Mr. Cowboy, Bob Lilly, DT, TCU, 6-6-270, the drafting 2 former Heisman trophy winners in the late rounds of the draft that changed their franchise (Staubach and Walker), an Olympic Gold medalist was drafted twice (Hayes and Lewis), had the last player in the draft become a Super Bowl MVP, and an HBCU player be the No.1 overall pick in the NFL Draft (Jones).

Overall, he knows his stuff. If he says our draft stinks, and I say the Arlington Jonesboys draft stink...It is definitely time to sing...

That is a concern, to be sure, but I think that's coachable, and that'll be easier corrected at the Guard position.
