When you have the 24th pick, how far is really to get to the 2nd round? 6 picks. So thats not really a big deal. Besides, most grades had him as an OT, not a guard. As a guard he grades much better than a tackle.

I do agree that jermain Johnson should have been the pick. I cant believe people havent asked Jones why he didnt take him yet.
They aren’t allowed lol

I think some are looking at what we've done over the last two years and are feeling good about the future. The FO seems to be turning the corner. We've been pounding the table for a TE for about three years. We've been asking for big bodied DT's for about eight years. We were saying Jaylon Smith needs to be cut two years before the team cut him. We've been frustrated with Jerry maxing out the cap every year. So when the FO start making moves that the fans agree with, the fans start to feeling good about the teams chances. So saying it's a good draft is more about some feeling the front office is turning the corner.

I feel like the FO is turning the corner, so I too feel like it was a good draft. Because they are starting to see and do things differently. These last two years they've been making moves that most agree with. Some of us are struggling to get past the Cooper and Collins debacles, but for the most part things are starting to look better. Better decisions, better team.
We pounded on the table for a better te while having Shultz, and draft his slightly less talented clone.
We got a fat dt last year. Will ridgeway be the same? Smith is cut but we still have the same.lbs from last year. The the draft we drafted a talented guy I like but he won't play this year and the 6th round tiny lb will ONLY ever play ST.
Less talented and slower at wr. Teams can already condense the field because we only have 4.5 wrs, 4.i tes. No wr that demands double teams. Dak coming off a year where he looked bad after his mid season injury.

Collins was better than what we have.
You are moving Smith to a new position, against way better competition and HOPE you fix his penalties and technique issues.
I doubt diggs gets 10+ ints again this year.
You HOPE Parsons takes the next step.
You ignore the fact we lost cooper, our best wr. Wilson, another who has produced for us. Gallup coming off injury. Washington coming in from a failed tenure in Pitt where he kept getting beat out by other wrs. Will lamb be able to handle the doubles he will face now ?

Like I said, potentially* better.
Collins has been bad for the last two seasons. The line fell apart when they returned him to the starting line up. Collins was bad on and off the field last season.

Got our mauling guard, pass rushing DE, and Smooth, fast receiver in the 3rd.

Werent those all the positions most were complaining about?

Just trying to check the pulse here.
Good draft overall. I'm hoping Tyler Smith spends the summer with Duke Mayweather. He already is aggressive and plays with a mean streak. Just needs to refine his technique. That's where Duke will help him.

From what I'm reading on this site, some feel Shultz is in his last year. That goes for Zeke also. So a TE in the 2nd in next year's draft is a possibility. A RB in the lower rounds in next year's draft is a possibility. Picking up some speed at WR in next year's draft is a possibility.

All I'm saying is the front office is starting to see the same things we are seeing. So 2023 is already on some fans minds. Because if the FO keeps doing the things they are doing 2023 would be a year where we can really make some noise. We seem to be slowly transitioning into a well run organization.

PS ....Witten was talented he was just good. Sometimes you don't need talented players, you just need good players. Players you can trust to be the same every game.

Except Clark won’t even practice until November and I doubt Ridgeway is a meaningful contributor before then. Defense will be mostly status quo from last year. Williams isn’t going to be DWare day 1
Remember there are a lot of defensive prospects that were drafted last yr, 2nd yr you usually see a bump up on their development on and off the field (Technique and strength)

Let’s hope Osa can replicate his first month of the year for longer. He was a beast to start then was quiet the rest of the year.

He looked the best out of all the defensive tackles early on. Goldston missed the entire camp. Cox, Joseph who I still see playing and Wright. Many thought yr 2, we would see the defense improved, but Parsons changed that right away.

When the Cowboys finally win a Lombardi, followed by a second season of dominance, and an obvious Kansas City—like dynasty is established, only then will you see it. When a Cowboy fan can once again strut into any water cooler discussion and command respect, only then will you see some of these Eeyores back off the hyperbole.

Every team we face also has shiny new toys and upgrades.
Some actual upgrades too.
Will Tolbert Washington be better than cooper and Wilson?
Will ridgeway be better than bohanna?
Will Fowler and Sam Williams be better than Gregory ?
Not sure where you are seeing the huge upgrades.
Of course some of them have potential to be better, but what if Smith isn't as good moving inside as we hope? What if he still holds as much as who he's replacing? What if the kicker misses more than just extra points?
What if a Gallup clone wasn't what we needed ?
We also haven't filled every hole, who replaces Neal?

What if the sun blows up tomorrow? What if China attacks? What if the stock market collapses? What if UFO’s drop giant spiders on us? There are no guarantees, everything changes, and nothing’s perfect, so why stress over it? Of the questions you asked, I’d wager that some spots ARE improved, some are worse, and some about the same, but based on what most of the “experts” speculate, at the very least, LG should be improved, and the number of sacks by Gregory will be increased. More snaps from Armstrong, added to those by Fowler and Williams, SHOULD produce more success. I never said huge upgrades, but I’d suggest slight improvement in multiple spots certainly seems possible. Of course, if you insist on being unhappy, why waste time trying to convince you?

None of them have done anything on the field yet… My issue is not just with what talent is or is not on the roster. It’s with the toxic and dysfunctional leadership running the franchise.

We can debate the picks if you want— some of them I really like. But— as cynical as this sounds— it is not going to matter. It’s rearranging the chairs on the titanic.

Why? Zero accountability. Soft, celebrity, “talk before you prove anything “ culture. An organization that plasters over character issues embedded in their own family— let alone their franchise.

This team is entitled and enabled. Just like their ownership— they think they are the smartest and most gifted team in the league.

This perpetuating delusion continues to set them up to get spanked by actual contenders who are simply made up of stronger stuff and are led by effective leaders.

Call me a “doom and gloomer” if you want. This team has filled some “needs” and added some talented players— but IMO, after watching this clown show for decades— they are going to finish with no better than 10 wins, and IF they make the playoffs— 90% it’s another one and done.

So why bother if we’re doomed? Life’s too short to waste time moaning.

Weird analogies as they have nothing to do with nothing. Where as what I'm talking about is relative, cooper Wilson is better then Tolbert Washington.
We were considered a top 3 offense going into last season with arguably the best wr group. We won't be talked about like that by every expert who talks about us going into this season. Why? Less talented.

But sure talk about the sun and china.

And Steele is barely average at best. Park your collins hate somewhere else because its boring.

I was a fan before JJ bought the team. I’ll be a fan after he is gone. I will always root for Dallas— after all— even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I just refuse to drink the kool aid and put on my pretend fantasy goggles when looking at this franchise. Moaning? Nah. Cynical and jaded? Yes,

Why don’t we reconvene after the 2022 season and see how they do. If you want to think it’s all rainbows and unicorns and barrels of kool aid— be my guest. I’ll leave you to it.

Just leave me to my cup as well, as all that’s left is a shot of strong, bitter whiskey lol

Have you become a Bengals fan? I don’t hate anyone. Collins was bad the last two seasons. It is what it is.

I feel worse now because our draft was as bad as this entire off-season has been

I'll say one thing about the Cowboy's second-round pick Sam Williams, he runs a lot like DeMarco Murray with the football.

ARE Cooper and Wilson better? Having not yet seen how Tolbert and Washington work with a new team, we can only speculate, based on what we hear. I utilize weird analogies only to make an obvious point, but I see that’s pointless, so believe whatever you want.
