Even XP.....which should be automatic. This kid is almost perfect--49/50 last season. We shall see. His only missed FG was over 50 yards. 15/16...

I think we have crap luck with kickers ever since Septien. I'm pretty sure even the kickers we had in the 90s were shaky. But those teams just stomped opponents. Only a scant few games came down to the kicker.

Yeah but Elliott himself was terrible. That team never needed things to come down to a FG.

The one weak link on that team.

I think Lin cost the Cheifs a playoff game. Didn't he miss 3 field goals against the Colts?

hey if you don't get its buyer beware as everyone wanted Greg gone but let's tap the breaks about this kid being better right out of the box as GZ was for long while one of best kickers in the league.

old adage be careful what you wish for applies..got that , need better explanation i can draw you pictures??

The nfl showed the last 3-4 season with their longer XP its nowhere near automatic anymore. Ask Mr go for it analytics guy in LAC how that works..

but good try this was a college kicker not an NFL kicker, the goal posts, has marks, and length of kick plus the level of competition all different in the nfl.you get that , you lost on the difference? some of the best NCAA kicker shave come in and flopped in the nfl in recent years.,,hope this kid doesn't but please stop putting sprinkles on this sundae to make it look better. his NCAA stats wont matter, his practices wont matter, it will be the pressure kicks in big moment's of games that sperate the average to the best..

No one said he will be excellent...that's why i said we shall see....but when is the last time you saw a mediocre college kicker turn into an great NFL kicker? You need to at least be great in college. They all are just college kickers now, you need to start somewhere.

that great but who were those rookie phenom ncaa kickers that wft and tamp took other have that choked in the nfl..its not a guarantee..we have seen it from all positions, guys are all world, some Heiman winners come in and fall on their faces in the nfl., saw some coaches do that as well..

hope he works out but rankings mean nothing until the real pressure of real games begin...

All you can go by is the fact the kid hit 15 of 16 and a long of 62 tell me is has accuracy and a big leg. He has kicked under real pressure at Texas Tech, as a player that is all he can do is show himself on game day. I would agree no guarantee but at this point he has done all he can to show he belongs at this level. Justin Tucker showed it at UT got his chance in the NFL and has continued to show it in the NFL.

I was looking at kicking stats between Garibay and Dicker and it was pretty close.

Cameron Dicker - PAT: 49/50 98.0% FG: 13/15 86.7%
Johnathan Garibay - PAT: 49/50 98.0% FG: 15/16 93.8%

Did they get rid of that Naggar kid already?
That's a damn shame.
He’s still here
Both are Lou groza finalist
Between them I think we end up with a decent kicker
If he can be plus 90% on extra points and money inside 40 I’m happy

Kicking is not a continued learning curve. You either can or you can't. I use to try a 40yarder at the end of practice every day. If i made it nobody ran if i missed it was 2 laps. psst, they only ran if I wanted them too. lol!

As a big Texas Tech fan I saw this kid in every game he played for Tech. He’s been very consistent. Now holds the school record for accuracy. And he was accurate at all distances. That 62 yarder he made to beat Iowa State last year was with their chance to go to a bowl game on the line and it was the last play of the game. He nailed it wit room to spare.

He also has a great story. He was not on scholarship until last year and had only played previously at Riverside Community College in California where he was also the punter. He was never recruited much out of HS. He is a very humble kid who has always had to work hard to get noticed.

Hoping he succeeds in Big D.

At least we know he can handle the wind on the road kicking in Lubbock!

Yeah but Elliott himself was terrible. That team never needed things to come down to a FG.

The one weak link on that team.
Elliott was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys after the 1992 NFL Draft, to compete as the replacement for kicker Ken Willis.[3] He recovered from a pulled groin muscle in training camp, to be named the starter over Brad Daluiso. He started the regular season slowly until hitting 13 straight field goals and registering 27 touchbacks, which at the time were both franchise records. His 24 field goals were a rookie record and third in club history. His 3 field goals over 50 yards in a single-season ranked second in franchise history. His 119 points set a team rookie record, while ranking fourth in the NFL and leading all rookies.[4] He was part of the Super Bowl XXVII winning team.

In 1993, he only made 6-of-13 field goals (46.15%) in preseason. He missed an extra point attempt in the season opener against the Washington Commanders. He missed two field goals in the 10–13 loss against the Buffalo Bills in the second game, contributing to a 0–2 start. On September 14, he was released and replaced with Eddie Murray.[5]

he was also a good kicker in college, thats why jimmy grabbed him. Jimmy cut him quick though after that buffalo game.

Hoping he succeeds in Big D.

This interview after his 62 yard kick gives me hope he has a good chance to a decent kicker.

He talks about the process as if it is another day at the office with the same routine and the same focus.

He had awareness of the game situation, the current conditions, and what he was able to do in the pre-game warmups.

Very "pro" approach to kicking.

He’s never kicked in the NFL. Tap the brakes! Lol We won’t know who our new kicker is until training camp and preseason. He’s not going to be handed the job. There’s a thing called competition.

You can't blame them for not being used to that at the kicking positions.

How many kickers never kicked in the NFL before they did? Answer all of them!

There's a long list of Jimmy Johnson mistakes.

All but one of the Parcells drafts were terrible.

Not sure what you're getting at.

Jimmy's advantage was that we drafted about 1,000 players over a three-year span. Well, that and he could coach.

I was glad they brought in Murray, I don't know if Elliot would have made the game winning kick against the Giants for home field. Elliot was even worse for the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Greg the Leg just wasn't the same after his second back surgery, and it's not really fair to expect him to be. I'm hoping between Naggar and Garibay we can find a kicker that is better than the Zuerlein we had last year and maybe even the year before (although he was pretty solid then inside the 50).
