Usually a good draft is 2 impact players

Guards don't have to cover as much ground as a tackle. A tackle has to cover about eight yards of turf, while a guard has to cover about half of that. So the (potential) penalties on Tyler Smith won't be as big of as issue as some think.
Tyler Smith is strong enough to play guard and now he won't be asked to protect as much ground as he did in college. Less ground, less penalties.

Lamb is our new number 1, so we're actually just trying to replace Cedric Wilson with James Washington. So the only problem we may face at the WR position is Noah Brown keeping Gallup's spot warm.

Gregory and his six sacks can easily be replaced by Tarell Basham. And didn't Armstrong have five sacks in the last six games, last year? So the guys worrying about replacing Gregory makes no sense to me. There's no worries there.

Jeremy Sprinkle will get more snaps than Jake Furguson. So outside of Tyler Smith our whole rookie class won't be asked to do very much this year. And that's why this draft class is looking good to me. Because these guys have time to sit back and learn. We don't need them to be impact players this year and that's a beautiful thing.

Impact players should not be defined as just starting. An impact player is someone who significantly upgrades at the position compared to what you already had last season. I doubt our first three picks will be better than Amari, Collins, and Gregory.

We got worse this offseason.

Yeah, impact players are difference makers, not just starters. We're lucky to have 1 impact player from this draft. I would be ecstatic if we had 1. The potential here is with Williams. But it may take a year.

we coulda got the best RB in College football and ours can't get out of 2nd gear.

We'll be spending 2 picks to trade up next year lmao
We needed to address the RB position, thought we would have used a day 3 pick on one but again nada.
Someone needs to remind the Cowboys that its a 17 game regular season now, apparently they never got the memo last year.

We have the dumbest front office in the entire league....NO OTHER ORGANIZATION openly leaks for weeks that their star WR is gonna be cut....we are the ONLY organization that would get screwed into settling for a 5th round pick.

With the Cowboys picking at the end of the rd this year, the expectation would be at least 1 impact starter and 1-2 year 1 contributors. Looking at this year's class, looks like we passed that bar:

Tyler Smith-probably starts day 1 at Guard.
Sam Williams-future starter, more of a sub-package player for this season.
Tolbert-with be competing against Washington to become the team's #3 starter.
Ferguson-will become our #2 TE now and possible future starter
Clark-future starter next to Parsons if healthy in yr 2.
Ridgeway-has a chance to be in the DL rotation as a run plugger.
hopefully but looks and actual production will be revelaed at the end of the yean, we have to evaluate after the season.

I think we have a long way to go before declaring anyone an impact player. Optimism is great but we have that every year right after the draft. I remember when Bradley Anae was going to be the steal of the draft.
goes for 100% of all the teams no matter where they picked..nice generality though keep it up,:popcorn:

Lots of ifs and maybes.
Their is potential their.
Hopefully we hit big on a couple.
I think drafts always have a lot of those, although some more than others. History has shown that players often turn out very different than draft day projections. Obviously it would be nice if the first picks had fewer ifs, but the potential is big for both.

Hall or Washington vs Smith

Ya gotta lock for this year versus an unknown imo.

Id rather just run to the right side.

When ya pick a top player at their position youre more likely to hit on a differencemaker

When ya pick the 10th best player it's a coinflip

The problem is ... since Stephen refuses to invest in signing up stud players in FA, and wanting to try to win the SB in one draft, just trying to plug one or two holes
with a team that has several holes and not enuff impact and complementary players,..one or two players per draft just will not do it.

I agree with your assessment, I can also see Ferguson used on shorter yardage running plays and Tolbert in the red zone offense now and then and Williams when we want to get he and Micah after the QB on 3rd down and long. We did what we needed to do in the draft and I'm happy with it, time will tell if it works out.

Yes, they need to use all avenues to upgrade the roster-fa and the trade market. Stephen is more concerned about managing the cap.

We won't know the impact any player in the draft has until after they take the field.
