I said for sticking to the draft picks and not doing anything cute or stupid. Not to the over all off season. Which is pretty much status quo. Did you read it all? As my post has nothing to do with that time frame you are referring to.
Indeed, props to Jerry and SJ for staying out of the way and letting the people that they pay to do their jobs actually do their jobs.

Nobody has a clue either way at this point, its all speculation and conjecture, but we will find out in due time. that is a certainty.
It's foolish to say we have upgraded those positions when those guys haven't played a single snap in the NFL yet.

They could be an upgrade, downgrade, or exactly the same.

A few posters like @rambo2 , for example, have a problem with prematurely crowning guys simply because they have a star on their helmet.

Its a bias that we all share to a certain extent as Cowboys fans, some of us at one end of the spectrum and some of us somewhere in the middle.

If I had a crystal ball 2 or 3 weeks ago that predicted the Cowboy's draft, I would have thought, "pretty good".

To select Smith, Williams and Tolbert in the first 3 rounds seems like a win to me. No doubt, the Cowboys leaned heavily toward "draft for need" vs. strictly drafting BPA. My only questions at the time would have been, "what did we get for trading down for Smith" and, "why didn't we grab a true OG in the later rounds".

I was convinced that.Smith could be had in the late first or early second. So, my concern was not so such about selecting Smith, as it was where we selected him. To be fair, Smith steadily climbed the pre-draft rankings and was generally regarded as a late first to early second selection.

Adding to Clark and a legitimate DT1 to our draft was a bit of icing on the cake for me.

Jerry said they had a few trade down options, but feared they would miss out on Smith if they did.
I know some on here will say, well, they still could have got a decent player and get a OG in the 2nd. But very possibly they did not feel comfortable with that option. As opposed to a plug this guy in now type of player.

Trading down is risky business and there is never a guarantee that by doing so you dont get jumped by another team for your target.
Sometimes you close the deal on the player you covet the most and call it a day.

Cool hobby, but McClay has forgotten more about talent evaluation than all of us draft enthusiasts think we know combined.
The Cowboy staff is excellent. One thing that they do very well is the draft and evaluating players.

Interesting fact. In the last 11 drafts, the Cowboys have selected nine players that went on to be Pro Bowlers.
This is a pretty impressive feat. No matter how much research & scouting you do, it’s always hard to know whether a collegiate talent is cut out for the NFL outside of the top couple of picks. Even then, we have seen highly-touted quarterbacks go on to flop in the league. Thank goodness Dak Prescott wasn't/isn't one of them!

I like what they did. They got bigger, stronger, faster, these players play with a tougher attitude. It looks to me that 11 rookies will make the team and Clark will be ready in 2023. They should have around 20 players on the roster in their 1st or 2nd year. The youth will do them good.

They say that the Titans were going to take Smith with their 1st pick. It looks like we would have lost him.

You laugh, but I know that you are totally ignorant about the draft. You basically spend all of your time badmouthing the Cowboys and trolling people with your hobby.
It wouldn't have mattered who we drafted. You would be bought in hook, like, and sinker. You don't ask questions. You simply accept what you're given.

You have no idea how any of these draft picks will turn out. You only say they are an "upgrade" because you're biased. That's it. I don't care what you read or watched about them. Until you see them on the football you have no idea how they will play. It's foolish to label them an upgrade just like it's foolish to label them a bust.

I mean, I'm not surprised, we were 12-5 last year with a Wild Card embarrassment, but you never once predicted a Cowboys loss. When we would lose you would have no idea what happened. If we went by your predictions we would have been 18-0 with a Super Bowl win. You are not capable of looking at this team with unbaised eyes. That's why you get laughed at you when you're wrong all the time.

Wrong all of the time? I predicted 12 and 5 and that Parsons would be a dominant pass rusher before the season.

like or not like, who cares.
Until they play, nobody knows if this draft is good or not.
