A lot of people have been trying to bury the guy for the last 2-3 years.. but lest we forget, if Tony Pollard doesn't get knocked into his leg he very likely plays all 17 games last season. The neck and elbow both held up fine. Pollard's ..er.. lack of ...er... prowess blocking is often cited as the main reason the coaches trotted one legged Zeke out there the last 10-11 games of the season. Not just to protect Dak, but maybe to protect our offensive linemen from Pollard.. Pollard has certainly gotten better each year as a blocker.. but that play were the dude threw him into Tyron's legs is a recurring nightmare.. He's got a ways to go and really needs to get better, especially if Moore is going to insist on throwing the ball 50 times a game.
Everybody loves the guy I hope your right

Yeah well that's the thing, he's always hurt. So now it's someone else's fault that he's hurt.

I'm ready to move on. If he doesn't play 17 games this year then please let it be his last one here.

You can tell most in this thread only pay attention to Dallas.

Every top LT misses games.

Go look at Trent Williams who is the best LT in the game and just got a new contract making him the highest paid.

Go look at the top paid guys and how many games they have played.

You don't throw these guys away--especially when they have a good contract like Smith.
Heck look at the previous 2 left tackles before Williams

Ronnie Stanley: Baltimore makes him the highest paid lineman in the league and then he tears his knee 2 days later. Misses the remaining 10 games of 2020 and the only plays 1 game in 2021 (so has played 1 of the last almost 30 games).

David Bakhtriati: Signs blockbuster deal November 2020. Injured that December, missed remaining of season plus playoffs. Misses all of 2021 (only plays 27 snaps).

That's why I laugh about "tyron never plays". Injuries at left tackle are common if you actually follow the NFL and not just the cowboys like you said

He was still gimpy.. He missed games because of a high ankle sprain and tried to come back .. He wasn't nearly himself those last two games hobbling around. I think he gets back closer to peak Tyron this year if we can just keep Pollard away from his legs.

P.S. If you think the 49ers defensive front was "no names" you need to watch more football.

Keep him from his legs lol are you serious?? We need to keep everything from Smith, smart cowboys fans know every year he's going to miss about 5 games! The guy barely practices are a precaution.

The guy is back every season telling us he's feeling the best he's ever felt, lie!!

Sorry but guys like zeke, smith, and d law are making too much for their production. I'm done giving high dollar guys passes for not playing up to their contracts.
So injury. Poor team play. Terrible coaching.
Dont factor into your calculations?

No need to shovel dirt on him. Also no need to not be prepared for impending decline. We can get another solid left tackle to take over and groom him while tyron misses his annual 3 games. then determine when the right time to cut bait is. That timeis not now. But lets not act like its too far off.

It’s the first time I’ve seen Teddy Pendergrass referenced on this site and it happens in the Fan Zone in a thread about Tyron Smith.

LOL, stop KJJ - when saw the poster mention bad luck just thought of the song by same name sung by Harold Melvin and the BlueNotes featuring Theodore Pendergrass, uncle had the LP from the early 70’s.

For three years his issue was the neck which he tried to play through. Once that was fixed he was good to go.. until Pollard happened. I think he plays at least 16 games this year..

I will take that bet.

Did you see the Niners game? He got worked by no names. Pretty embarassing.

This is the problem. It's not just that he misses games but he underperforms in a few more when he does play.

Where he underperformed was always a game coming back from injury. They rushed him back last year bc they didn't have a decent swing.

It's my thinking as well. The regular injuries he had seemed to not be a problem due to the surgery he had. You also forgot to mention he had the same thing happen to him twice, once it was Pollard, the other time it was McGovern, and that would have knocked anyone out for an extended period of time. I see him being healthier than people think.

Guy is a great player. Another star wasted by Jerry Jones. that said he hasn't played a full season since 2015. That is a long time ago. He plays a huge position as well. Sad but Dallas needs to start thinking about a plan B.

Most fans especially ours will like and applaud but once he mess up a few times those bad outlay ALL the good he's done for this team. It's pretty sad

Perhaps, but the point is he is dinged up or outright injured quite a bit. Not a dig on him, just the truth about where he is in his career.

and the careers of most LTs. It is what it is. He's not unique.

Get rid of him! He isn't anything special anymore. Been in the league since he was 20. Had had back problems that started 5 years ago and has managed them by not practicing and seem to draw a lot of holding penalties. Yeah maybe he would of made it through if Pollard didn't hit him but all those other years he fades by the end of the year and sometimes doesn't finish. I like the guy but think it's just time to move on and it's hard because every player reaches that point.
