Um, it's all there for you to see. None of them had Smith in their top 32 or Williams in their top 60.
might want to read what pete schrager wrote about tyler smith,ot-tulsa on april 28 when he mocked linderbaum to us and smith to the titans at pick 26.
guess he's "lieing" about what sources were telling him...which proved out to be true.
of course you already know this.
so carry on with your pretend draftology...you know...for likes n stuff.

Just for the record that wasn't the original title, for some odd reason the administration felt the need to change it.

so tyler smith was never mocked or mentioned going in rd1 by anyone?
nfl.com's pete schrager never once write before thurs night about tyler smith,ot-tulsa being a possible rd1 pick...and never mocked him to us at anytime.

and not one single analyst ever mentioned ole miss de sam williams as a possible 2nd or 3rd rd pick?

i know your act is to be a cowboys critic but your not being honest to maintain this pretend draftology that we DID NOT get both smith and williams about the area they were projected to go...you know..
for likes and stuff.

Do you know why almost any would tell you Sam Williams would have have been a 1st or 2nd Rounder if not for the Assault charge that was dropped thats why he slipped not talent and if you argue that your out in left field.

We all like to hear great things about every pick, but Kiper is a joke. How this guy still has people listening to him I'll never understand. Most people nowadays grade drafts off of the mocks they've been reading for 2 months or in the case of guys like Kiper, their own mock. None of these are worth crap. It's just a group think exercise where almost every mock looks about the same by draft day. I'm not saying we had a good draft or not, but I am saying the draft grades are worthless. All that matters is where NFL GMs see these prospects and for the most part we don't see those lists...unless of course your owner is an AH0le that shows the whole world your draft board at a press conference because he's too thin skinned to answer questions about who you picked

He worries more about his hair than anything

i said 2nd OR 3rd round.
not 1st round.
i never heard or read anyone say that.
he was regarded as one of the best natural pass rushers in the draft.
and some...pre draft/post combine...thought he was a 2nd or 3rd Rd talent.
most who cover this team had talked about him being in play at 88...the closer we got to thursday nighr...some of them were saying he could be in play at 56.

Peter Schrager is a reporter. He does zero draft study. He does a mock based on what he's hearing around the league and he heard someone might reach for Smith.

I know it stings, Rowdy, but here is where actual draft resources had him.

Kiper: Smith 33, Williams 125
McShay: Smith 33, Williams 99.
Brugler: Smith 50, Williams 91
Miller: Smith 42, Williams 81
Zuerlein: Smith 43 and while he has Williams at 48 he says you shouldn't draft him any sooner than the 3rd round and as late as the 5th round.

I literally can't find anyone who does this for a living who thinks the Cowboys got value with either pick. Maybe that's the reason they're getting some of the lowest draft grades this year. You might want to wipe the face paint from your eyes and see for yourself.

So your "they were taken where most projected" was pure BS. You can keep claiming it but we know better.

they were taken about where folks thought.
but continue fishing for likes playing pretend.

solid draft.
with a chance to be better.
if i'm wrong...i'll own it.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...s-eagles-crush-it-bucs-bills-raise-questions/

"Most surprising pick: Sam Williams went nearly a full round before we expected, but that has everything to do with off-field concerns. On the field, he's a first-round talent, and we understand why the Cowboys drafted him late in the second round. He's explosive, strong, and plays with a non-stop motor."

Was actually the first link that popped up when I googled the draft big board. I think people have to keep in mind that Dallas is close to the back of every round. So if a player has a 3rd round grade they likely will get taken before they fell to Dallas. They wanted the player and there is a decent chance he isn't there at 88. Also if they didn't take Williams there they likely take Tolbert and try to get Williams in the 3rd. Tolbert would have been a decent pick in the 2nd but is a great pick in the 3rd. As long as they get both players they want which one got picked first doesn't make much of a difference.

agreed.
and all that matters is...
he's explosive,strong and plays with a non-stop motor.
if he plays upto that,no one will give a damn what round we got him in.
they got the pass rusher they wanted.
good on them.
its up to sam now.
earn it.

Because they could not have gotten Sam Williams in 3rd Round no way at the latest towards end of 2nd Round

Mel Kiper on our first two draft picks......
"A penalty waiting to happen" and "Talk about a one trick Pony". OK so he basically destroyed our first two picks with his comment but as I get more information on the players the Cowboys drafted I have to say that this is a typical Cowboys draft especially when I find out that Damone Clark who had spinal fusion surgery and wont even play in 2022, are you freakin kidding me another Jaylon Smith red shirt hopeful. Now the one positive thing I can say about this draft is the Cowboys filled in where they lost players. They needed a guard right away, check, they needed to replace Gregory with someone on the edge, check, and they needed to get another wide reciever, check. Now hopefully these guys will see a lot of playing time and be a factor for years to come.
Oh no Mel Kiper from ESPN said our picks suck! What ever will this team do? Guess we should just forfeit. See you next year. Hope Mel Kiper likes our picks next year.

Interestingly, you dont use Talbot in the above. If you take that we possibly targeted Williams and Talbot in 2nd/3rd....the reason we took them in the order we did was because we didnt think Williams would have made 88.

"Value" is in the eye of the beholder. Because of Micah I dont think we wanted a 1st Rd DE or LB, Quinn doesnt want to have to sit either player because he wants Micah lining up in their position.

In any case our Board was extremely high on Smith and that's all that really matters as he wouldnt of passed the Titans at 26 (and rumors of other teams at the top of the 2nd).

It would of been interesting what we would of done if Smith had been taken before us.....probably taken the trade that Titans were offered from the Jets (or taken a Cine).

Effort and success goes hand and hand. You can't replace the guys you loss if you never try. If these guys suck then try again and again. We have to keep trying, right?

Tarell Basham is better than Gregory. Lamb made the pro bowl not Cooper. Shultz can't block worth a lick.
We got ran over in our last two playoff games.

So the team is trying to fix all of its problems. What more can you ask. The effort is there and it's a welcoming site.

Exactly. Now if Stephen would get over his fear of free agency, we will be much better off.

Kiper is a paid actor filling a role for espn. In other words, he's a fraud, always has been. He's never close on any of his mocks or predictions. Teams laugh at him all the time. Like they give a crap what he says about players or when they took their draft picks.

There is zero doubt we chose players of need for the first two picks and not the best player available. I'm not sure you win championships doing that. Let me change that, you don't win championships by doing that.

Whose arguing this? Jerry literally held up the draft board so we could see they chose Tyler Smith (from Utah!?!) over Cine.
