I wonder what OL we could have drafted in 2nd round if we had taken DE Johnson in 1st round ?

And If Smith was still there in 2nd round we could have moved up to get him then.

That to me would have been best case scenario.

FYI ....he was 28th on our board according to the sheet Jerry showed reporters

Not sure about "needed," but we did clear cap space.

we were 21 mill over the cap, yes we needed to clear some space. All I hear is Jerry likes his guys, hell he evidently is not the only one. lol

Yeah cause we needed to be sitting 20 million under the cap May 4th. Let's also ignore the fact Cleveland immediately restructured and freed up 15 million on Coops contract. If they wanted to keep him they would've, he wasn't cut because we couldn't afford him.

If we were intent on going OL in 1st round we could have moved up to like 15 and taken our top OL on our board Kenyon Green from Texas A&M who went to Houston.
I saw enough mistakes at the Combine from Kenyon Green, that I'm glad the Cowboys didn't get him.

Hard pass.

I appreciate your input scout AC.

You better hope Tyler can protect your hero or his season will be short especially if Tyron is out any.

I could understand if the Cowboys were willing to move up for someone like WR Jameson Williams or true LG Zion Johnson, but to "supposedly" want to move up to get WR Drake London or OT Charles Cross is just plain dumb. Heck, if that's the case, I'm glad they stayed put and took OG/OT Tyler Smith because Smith can at least play both positions because of his aggressive tenacity. Cross is strictly an O-Tackle who I feel is highly overrated.

Yep, agreed. You're welcome, Greg. Anytime! :D

As for Tyler Smith, if Joe Philbin can get Tyler to start keeping his hands inside the shoulders when locking on to opponents, I believe because of his tenacity and mauler attitude, he actually has the potential to become a very good Left Guard.

Nothing? We cleared out massive space on the cap space. You guys complain about Cooper contract and yet now can't seem to understand why the let him go. Cowboys needed the cap relieve

no they didn't. also, they got nothing in return.

This is what happens when you basically give away a top 20 WR in the league for absolutely nothing.
Oh please. There wasn't exactly a line for another franchise to pick him up lol. That's why he's Brown!

Yes cap space. funny people complain jerry like his own player and overpays and yet when they release him to free up cap space he should have kept him. lol They money saved on his contract freed up a lot of space now and the remaining portion of his deal

The Dallas Cowboys were not shy about their desire to land a top receiver in the draft, but in the end, the team opted not to trade up instead selecting Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith at No. 24. Locked on Cowboys’ Marcus Mosher reported the team attempted to move up on draft night to land USC wideout Drake London, Ohio State receiver Chris Olave or Mississippi State’s offensive lineman Charles Cross.

“Again, some of this is based off what we’re hearing and behind-the-scenes stuff, but the Cowboys were looking to trade up for Drake London or Charles Cross,” Mosher explained on the April 28 edition of “Locked On Cowboys.”Drake London goes eight, it’s far too high to trade up. Charles Cross goes nine to Seattle, I believe, too far to trade up. At that point, at least it seemed like the Cowboys were going to be patient and wait.

Smith was going to Tennessee if we did not pick him. He was not getting past them.

If Tyron is out I really hope they don't push Tyler into that spot. He will have his hands full learning guard at this level. Tyron will be huge towards his development. A great big pro-bowl style safety net.

Teams will work hard to keep WR's on rookie contracts....5 yr via 1st round
Avoid the 100 million Tyrell hill range
