How did the dolphins owners checkbook do for jimmy?
Jimmy no longer knew the college talent by that time. But one must remember it was Jimmy who got the deal sodomizing the vikings. His actual hit percentage was not that great but he had so many picks. AND one must remember he almost did not pick Emmitt.

Still had a better overall record on drafts than Jethro.

Actually it was Hershal walker who made that trade. As Jerry has said Hershal could've declined that trade.

they would have ran him out of here and called him the clapper and garret type names we cant say here.
There was actually much criticism of Landry back then especially when Murchison gave him a 10 year contract before a playoff appearance.

And we were called “ next year champions” until we finally won. Fortunately we had tremendous leadership and front office which stayed the course . It’s not like we weren’t having any success. Tom had led us to 2 NFL championship games and a Super Bowl. There just wasn’t this SB or Bust mentality we have with fans now .

Sure there was frustration , disappointment and heartbreak . And we had much to critique but we had enough success to sustain .

I still believe if Garrett had broke thru to at least a championship appearance in one of those seasons , he probably could have sustained the criticism . This era social media which allows every idiot with a keyboard a voice isn’t healthy for sports or our culture. We see how both extremes is dividing our people and country,

Jerry’s walking blood alcohol content is higher than his playoff winning percentage.

Then move on I refuse to scratch your itch on something that don't have any bearing on what we were discussing, how did Jimmy do when he left Dallas?

You didn’t answer the question which I knew you wouldn’t.

I wonder what boards would have been like if the internet was up in Tom Landry's first 12 years. Until he won a SB.
Then what would they been like in the 80's, when things went South.

Boards or not, I’ve always said Landry never would have made it in today’s sports world. Can you see any owner tolerating a coach who starts with 6 losing seasons? Even Jimmy might have been fired after his first season with that solo win season. We’ve probably missed out on some great talent with our low attention span quick gratification culture these days. And I’m not only talking about sports.

I'm continually amazed by Cowboys fans who think this guy or that guy will get us over the top.

It's delusional thinking. Jerry & Stephen have spent over a quarter century showing they can't do it. They aren't going to suddenly do it next season.

You doom and gloomer!

After this great draft if you're not full in hook, line, and sinker then you're just not a real Cowboys fan!

Now, go buy some jerseys, bobble heads, and tickets.
You’ve carved out a little niche for yourself here by constantly appealing to the crybabies.

Way to go.

Us "crybabies" as you say are right though.

We complain, criticize, critique, and condemn this organization for being losers and continuing to be losers.

Forgive us for not waving the pompoms and praising this team without warrant for 26 years of failure.

Us "crybabies" are show us, not tell us types. You have lost our trust after 26 years of nothing. It's up to the organization, players, and coaches to earn it back. You don't earn it back by telling us what you're going to do or telling us "you're in the best shape of your life". You earn it back on the field. You earn it by winning and being consistent with it.
