Frederick was a massive reach. Micah was a bad pick. We should've drafted Spears before Ware. Bobby Carpenter is the next big thing. Mo Claiborne will revolutionize the secondary.

People want who they want and complain when a player they don't know is picked instead. This year looks alot like a team that drafted for the future. Lots of elite physical talent that needs some refining. I just don't understand how this is a bad thing.

Those that proclaimed that this team was going nowhere before the draft are the same ones complaining that there aren't many immediate contributors. I would think they'd be happy with the change in philosophy and moving towards a more long-term focus. Kinda funny if ya think about it.

Exactly, and look at the focus the team has been on the last two drafts. The trenches and defence have been a focus. We've gone 2 years in a row taking 1Ts. Sure, they're late round picks, but I don't remember ever taking one after Wade Phillips left. We finally have beef on the Dline.

We got beef now coming to the oline. Our D is much quicker than it had been. The players are much younger. I can actually, rare I say, see a process taking place. I think I can see a semblance of a plan.

Also, to those thinking that Payton is coming, I doubt it. 1. I still like Mike, 2. The trade compensation would be at least a 1st for Payton, and 3. And most importantly, I think Quinn is the HC in waiting. If we must change HCs, I think Dan Quinn is the one the team will turn to. He's already 1-0 as an interim here. The Front Office clearly respects his opinion as evidenced by the change in defencive philosophy. The team clearly responds to him. I think we don't have to look outside the Star for the next HC. And what a refreshing philosophy! Especially if we get Quinn at HC. That, imo, would be BETTER than getting Payton.

What the other NFC teams did in this draft will mean something but not all that meaningful. Repeat after me, Daniel Jones, Jalen Hurts, and Carson Wince....:laugh::laugh:
The Igglos, Gnats and Commodes are going to find out this season they have another Dak on their hands.

You can question both the Eagles and Giants picks. The Eagles traded up and drafted two down dinosaur that teams will wear out with up tempo play calls. The Eagles have gimmicky run based offense and decided to pay a good receiver 25 million a season. Oh yeah their quarterback is a running back.

The Giants passed on the best offensive tackle, Iky for a pass rusher that will get swallowed up in the bright lights of the city. The tackle they did pick would have been picked in the teens last year.
Well your response makes me feel better !
Thanks!

it is normal that many are ecstatic with all the drafts that the cowboys do, but it is evident that the cowboys have no chance, all the draft picks are projects, there is no one who can be a Micah type, the reality is that the cowboys they are falling behind, and other teams are getting stronger and with more possibilities and evident talent, with players that can really make a difference, if we see it in terms of possibilities, comparing the cowboys with the other teams, what you see is that before Dallas has a chance to reach an SB, these teams have a better chance of reaching and even winning: Jets (tremendous Draft, excellent, a very good example of aggressiveness and knowing how to put together a very good team) Eagles ( from one season to another they are positioned with better expectations than the cowboys, there is a very high possibility that the Eagles win the division) 49ers, Buccaneers, Chiefs, Raiders, Buffalo, Bengals, Browns, Broncos, Chargers, Rams, Titans, even the Dolphins. I think that all of these would have their opportunity before the cowboys have it, if Dallas continues with that same Draft-only mentality, soon they will have to replace Tyron, Martin, Zeke, and that will be a cycle, and not they will become real contenders until they really wake up and get aggressive in the postseason. There is no doubt that Dallas knows how to select good players in the draft and they have the talent to know how to select, but every Draft player is a prospect, and is not exempt from an injury changing plans, or some off-sports situation. at least this season will be another lost season for the cowboys, hopefully when S. Payton arrives (if he arrives) things will change, meanwhile, it will be the same every season.

That was hard to read! So anyways, which team do you root for, and how do they’ll do this year?

That mess of a post is unreadable. Use paragraphs and shorter sentences.

We're going 9-8 and finishing 2nd in the division.

If by some very slim chance we make the playoff we will be a 1st round exit.

If Dallas is smart (they're not) they will see the writing on the wall after next season. They will draft a QB high, let him serve as the back up and learn, then when Dak's contract is up he will take over.

There's one problem. What you say sounds simple enough, but if you look at Dak's contract you'd see a problem. Even if Jerry saw the writing on the wall, the problem isn't going away.

If they draft a QB next year with the intent to replace Dak, then it stands to reason they'd stop restructuring his contract, right? When would you like to take that 50M+ cap hit? Along with the stupid high cap hits that follow as a result of these restructures?

I'm continually amazed by Cowboys fans who think this guy or that guy will get us over the top.

It's delusional thinking. Jerry & Stephen have spent over a quarter century showing they can't do it. They aren't going to suddenly do it next season.

1st place schedule coming up not many DOG teams and the NFC Least seems on the upside.
I have us winning 7 games and putting us out of range of drafting a stud rookie QB.
Same old same old......and knowing management they will probably give Dak an extension breaking the NFL cap bank once again!!!

Are the Cowboys definitively, or better yet, realistically a better team than they were last year?

Was last year's team good enough?

There you have it.

The goal for most teams is to improve during the off-season. Stephen's mission was to reduce costs. Cowboys lost their best WR and replaced him with a 3rd round pick who dominated in the Sun Belt Conference. They lost their best pass rusher and replaced him with Dante Fowler and a promising 2nd round pick. Not saying those aren't good players, but assuming they are immediately equal or better to what they lost is at best naive. They will be a good team who beats up on bad teams, occasionally competes with good teams, and loses a game or two they should have won. Sound familiar?

Coaching is the same. McCarthy was 9-1 against non-playoff teams and was 3-5 against playoff teams. Of those 3 playoff teams wins (Eagles, Patriots, Eagles), those teams won a combined 0 playoff games. They also went into halftime behind in 9 of their 18 games. Jerry and his family are the biggest problem but McCarthy (and Moore) are real issues too. McCarthy and Moore have no real plan to adjust or outscheme opposing coaches. They simply roll the ball out and hope like heck the athletes bail them out, just like Jason Garrett did before.

Let me know when you guys all catch up.

Sometimes you have to just pull the band aid off and let it heal instead of picking at the wound and prolonging it.
