Last year he was the #1.

but hey, if you can’t see the talent that’s on you. Like some fans maybe your cooper biased.
Here’s a great site to break down where he ranks in the NFL. it breaks down catchable target rate, expected catch rate, contested catch rate, zone vs man, etc. the only thing he’s top 10 in is drops with 9. That was 6th most.

Being the top target does not make him a #1. Laurent Robinson was the top target one year and parlayed that into a nice contract with Jacksonville. That doesn’t make you a true #1

really, that’s news to me. Top target, top yards, top receptions.

Ok now compare that to cooper and Gallup. He was our #1

heck Shultz was our #2
Again you’re confusing being a team’s top target with being a #1. There HAS to be a top target on every team. Even the Bears and Texans had one. But being the best on an individual team does not make someone a #1.

I use the Chris Bosh comparison. He was the leading scorer on a bad team in Toronto. That didn’t make him a true star as we saw when he went to Miami and sat in the corner.

As far as Cooper, he had more TDs, less drops, better separation per route. PFF has Amari as a top 15 receiver and Lamb around 30

no your just trying to move the goal post. Lamb was our #1 in 3 out of 4 categories.

it’s also completely obvious the guy is a total stud. If you don’t see it, that’s on you.

too many mouths to feed and great receivers last year for anyone to catch 120 balls for 1500 yards.

A total stud is a top 10 receiver. By even the basic metrics he’s not close.

20th in receptions
14th in yards
20th in TDs
17th in YAC
28th in YPC

He ended the season No. 17 in fantasy for whatever that’s worth even after getting the most targets.

Too many mouths to feed on the cowboys. No one was going to get enough receptions to be with the elite, featured guys. But that didn’t stop guys like you from call cooper our #1 the last few years.

lol……now your changing the goal post to “total stud”

Do I really have to explain this to you?

lamb was the #1 over cooper on our team. He passed cooper. Cooper is gone, get over it.

  • Kicker: It would be nice to have competition and if we had drafted our favorite option in the 6th round or traded in a 7th to avoid the UDFA race. We need someone.

With York being drafted in the fourth round, our favorite option to draft in the sixth or in the seventh to avoid the UDFA race probably would be the same player we picked up as a UDFA: Jonathan Garibay. So I'm glad we didn't "waste" a pick. York was cream of the crop, but Garibay wasn't far behind.

corner...other than diggsy.
i'm very concerned about it.
we have the numbers but how deep does the talent run.
i'll claim ignorance on our new fresno st bulldog daron bland.
i haven't watched a fresno st game in years.
i like his size tho.
i'm still a fan of anthony brown.
i think he's better than given credit.
i'm probably to hard on him.
i'm still a fan of jourdan lewis.
but it feels like he took a step back but i still see the talent there and he does have a knack for being around the ball.
but by now...i'd thought we'd see some more from him than we have.
maybe thats a false impression.
i liked what i saw from kelvin joseph but this off the field stuff is worrisome.
so for me...post draft...corner is something i'm nervous about...outside #7.

safety.
love kearse.
love donovan wilson.
glad hooker is back.
but i want better.
won't happen tho...not with stephen.

on offense...
te.
im glad schultz is back.
he has emerged as a real weapon in this offense since mccarthy got here.
he has a good chemistry with dak.
hope we can work out a deal to keep him.
i am a fan of jake ferguson.
love his style of play.
i think he will be a solid player here.
not dynamic.
but reliable.
i do like sean mckeon.
but if we can't keep schultz beyond just this season...this spot has me concerned.

unless coach mccarthy, coach quinn and wil mcclay do an end around stephen jones or get him to change his thinking...s and dt will always be worrisome.

O-line without a doubt isn’t strong. Steel and Biadiasz are average starters. The rookie Smith is a big question mark needing to learn overall technique and a new position. Who is the LT if/when Tyron misses 3+ games?

LB outside of Micah is a big ?. While he looked better, LVE was still nowhere near where he was at his rookie level potential. He’s an average starter with limitations. Somehow Cox has been anointed a starter after 9 snaps and coming ACL surgery? Gifford and a rookie 5th rounder as the only depth?

We desperately need 1 of Gallimore/Osa/Hill to step up and be a difference maker. The D can’t take the next step forward without a player in the middle making plays imo. Wouldn’t bet on it happening…

We are going to be very reliant on Fowler and the rookie Williams to generate pressure

A rookie 1AA WR and James Washington behind Lamb until Gallup is fully healthy isn’t great by any measure. Even going forward there’s no guarantee that pair makes a reliable WR 3 next season.

We are very reliant on Hooker playing all of the snaps for a full season…little to no depth behind him at FS.

We can still sign a vet LB and S to solve depth issues…possibly even DT. But we are at the mercy of hope and prayer for the O-line and D-Line to be good units

I think OL, DE and 1T are my only concerns going into the season.

- Smith will probably start at LG but I imagine we’re going to experience a lot of growing pains. Raw player coming from a small school doing a position change. I’m not sure he’ll be an upgrade from Williams year 1. Not sure what to expect from Steele. Saw some good and bad last year.
- We’ll probably play Collins at 1T but he’s a 3T. Would love to see Bohanna / Ridgeway develop into a decent starter.
- Losing Gregory is a downgrade at DE IMO. Looks like we’re going to try the DE by committee approach which will be fun to watch.

I’m actually ok with LBr. LVE looked solid down the stretch so I think he’s finally healthy and i’m very high on Cox. Also think Lamb heading into year 3 will be fine taking over the WR1 role and Tolbert is a stud. Hell easily take snaps from Washington.

All true, but you’re missing a massive piece of the puzzle here. A big part of stats is opportunity and volume and Moore does a terrible job of manufacturing touches for his best players.

Lamb was outside the top 20 in targets last year. Put him near the top and he’s likely much higher in all of those categories.

So now that we have had the draft and brought in the following:
  • Rd 1. Tyler Smith (OG/OT)
  • Rd 2. Sam William (DE)
  • Rd 3. Jalan Tolbert (WR)
  • Rd 4. Jake Ferguson (TE)
  • Rd 5. Matt Waletzko (OT)
  • Rd 5. Damon Clarke (LB)
  • Rd 5. John Ridgeway (1T)
  • Rd 5. Daron Bland (CB)
  • Rd 6. Devin Harper (LB)

My opinion:
Offense:
  • OC: Biadasz wasn't terrible last season but wasn't good either. Farniok, while having traits is completely unproven. Not gonna lie, I wouldn't liked an early investment in the draft and would have gone Linderbaum round 1 with a OG 2nd round. But I don't know the draft or the roster like the FO and coaching staff so here's hoping.
  • TE: I was a bit disappoint to see Sprinkle as our FA investment at TE. Matching OJ Howard's 1 year 3.5m contract would have been something I was happier with. It's not breaking the bank and gives a more solid all round no.2 while Ferguson develops.
  • WR: With Gallup having an ACL and a 3rd round rookie developing, It would have been nice to have a more reliable option that can play as a no.2 receiver that could match Cedric Wilson's output for a year. Still possible with some talent left in FA.

Defense:
  • 1T: Bohanna should be better with a year in the system, and we now have 5th round pick Ridgeway to go with the smaller Watkins. To be honest I would have liked a splash in FA rather than Watkins. He was solid but I feel re-signing him is treading water when we needed to get better against the run.
  • LB: Parsons is obviously a beast but playing as a part-time edge rusher puts LVE again as at least a part-time starter. I would have liked someone in FA a bit more expensive on a short-term deal while draft picks develop.
Special Teams:
  • Kicker: It would be nice to have competition and if we had drafted our favorite option in the 6th round or traded in a 7th to avoid the UDFA race. We need someone.
At q b and back up RB.

We've downgraded on paper at DE but have we in practice?
  • Lawrence missed half the season
  • Gregory missed 1/3 of the season injured/COVID and had 1 sack in the back half
  • Golston should be better as a 2nd year player
  • We signed Fowler, we drafted Williams in the 2nd, and I see Armstrong as an ascending player
I think if it's a downgrade then it's only a small one. I'd also say we've downgraded at WR long-term as Cooper is a 20m player and we had Cedric Wilson too. However, I agree by next year WR should be above average. I also generally agree with your points overall and really want to see alternatives to Zeke be the focus of this offense....starting with Pollard!
I actually think we’ll be better at DE. Gregory has been overrated AND he cannot stay on the field for various reasons. I think we’ll easily replace his “production”.

For 2022 it'll be left side of the o-line. Tyron goes down and we'll be reliant upon a combination of inexperience.... Ball/Tylor/Waletzko.

Steele's struggled at LT, so the only other internal alternative is to spread out the inexperience and move Zack to LG and bring in McGovern.
