Refresh my memory.... didn't a team with a sorry o'line just play in the super bowl?

Burrow found a way to make plays but Dak gets the bad o'line excuse?

Cincinnati got lucky last season. They were 10-7. They fell behind to Tennessee in the playoffs but overcame it with Tannehill suffering a meltdown. KC had them in a stranglehold the following week and let them off the hook. Good luck with them getting past Kansas City and Buffalo this season. It may take Cincinnati another 30 years to get back to a Super Bowl. In the Super Bowl their OL caved in when the game was on the line.

The QB always holds the key to improving the offense. When Dak was at the top of his game early last season our offense was rolling. He needs to get back on track this season. However our OL and running game is going to play a big part in that.
Daks gotta get the ball out in 3.5 sec, and be willing to throw at a receiver that's NFL open
K.Moore gotta help him with more rubs, motion and pollard wco....

O.Line be a lot better if ball outta there on rythm

It's all Dak and the excuses need to stop. We had a stacked team with depth and talent last year, also as healthy as can possibly be and still couldn't get out of the first round.
Couldn't agree more! I'm just tired of posting the obvious. Never seen a fan base as ours always deflecting blame. O-line, not enough time, bad running game, McCarthy and Moore,......Couldn't possibly be the fact when we need a big time throw to keep a drive alive SOMEONE checks down!!!!!!!! Good thing the RAMS had that strong O-line and running game that took them through the playoffs and Superbowl win!?

Like every off season lots of unknowns and "if's" in regards to our offense, and the success the team has will be squarely on the shoulders of it. We have so many things up in the air, and in all honesty is there one player who we can't raise a concern about? Seriously, is there? Here are a few key figures we don't know what to expect:

Pollard- will he get the touches necessary to make an impact? We know this answer as long as Zeke can walk
Tyron- again we go into a season not knowing how healthy or how many games to expect
Zach- we know what he brings, but will age become a factor more?
Gallup/Cee- one misses two months, one we have no clue if ready to be WR1
Dak- we know the answer to this, and we can only hope because I really don't know what he is right now

Still too many unknowns at every position I say, and we simply cannot pinpoint just a couple

Brady has said he knows where the ball is headed before the snap . Fire away # 4 . I’ll throw another name out to studio audience . Tolbert the # 3 pick .

With Gallup on the mend the rookie has to come to play . Add Ferguson to the list , both these players can help make this a Tuna 03 type draft haul .

It’s not Dak or Cedee Lamb or a healthy Michael Gallup or a more involved Tony Pollard.

In my view, there are two players who hold the key to improving our offense next season. They are both named Smith. Tyron and Tyler.
If Tyler is capable of handling LG competently AND Tyron is healthy at LT all season, we have a chance for a much improved offense. Tyron hasn’t played a full season since 2015, so maybe we can only hope for something like 12-14 games.

Skill position players are always listed as the most important on the offense. They get the headlines and highlights. But I guarantee you every skill position player we have- Dak, Lamb, Zeke, Pollard, Gallup…whoever- will only be as successful as the offensive line who blocks for them. As this OL goes, so goes the offense.

I don’t care how good your skill position people are- with a bad OL, you can’t be a good offense. With a below average OL, there’s no running game followed by a weakened passing game where the defense can just rush the passer.

So an improved offense this year starts with the Smith boys.
The Boys had a decent O-Line last season, but when Dakota went MIA in the second half it didn't matter how well the O-Line played because DCs were letting receivers and TEs practically run free and were keeping most of their defensive sets close to the line of scrimmage which forced the O-Line to block 8-9-10 players and when your O-Line is over matched almost every play there aren't going to be a lot of running lanes. DCs forced Dakota to throw the ball and he crapped down his leg in the process. It seemed like he was king of the 3 and outs in the second half of last year's season.

I don’t expect much out of other. Tyrone body is just breaking down, can not see that changing. We drafted a penalty prone left guard…and I see no evidence that we are getting good coaching anywhere on the offensive side of the ball. I think our only chance is if Quinn reproduces what Seattle’s D had, but we don’t have a Russell Wilson or Pete Carroll.
nope, but we do have Mike and Dak, ugh

After the Patriots game the offense went in reverse . Not counting the blow out against Lehigh Valley CC in Philly

If Biadasz doesn’t play much better none of it will matter as well.

Tyron Smith missing so many games is a bigger concern than the Cowboys seem to think it is. He’s missed 32 games due to injury since 2015. That’s almost two full seasons missed in the last 6 seasons. He’s a great talent but his body is clearly breaking down. He only played 11 games last year.

Having a talented LT who is not always available is a real problem. Maybe Tyler Smith is the long term answer but he’s not ready yet. Having a quality LT is second in importance only to having a good QB. If Tyron is unable to be dependable this OL and offense is in trouble regardless of who are your skill position players.

Burrows didn't mind all the way to the SUPERBOWL!
P.S. And by the way Bob what did it get us since 2016 having one of the best OFFlines in the NFL???

Probably depends more on how much the other NFC EAST teams improved in the offseason. We've been statistically feasting on bad defenses.

Agreed. When the o-line was at its best last year this was a top offense in the league. We saw what happened to that offense when the o-line play crashed.

I always enjoy your posts. I agree with your comments that it’s a problem that Tyron has missed so many games.

But I will take it a step further. Tyron is not the player he once was, even when healthy. He is not a dominant OT anymore game in and game out.

He has been beaten more in the past few years at a much higher rate than before. The fat lady is warming up to sing on him.

Absolutely correct that the offensive line is the key to success for this offense.

Dak is a very good QB but not exactly the fast release type. He had to do a lot of running around last season.

The running game got stopped at the line of scrimmage in many cases. It was very unreliable.

An improvement along the O-line is a critical component for any serious playoff run in the upcoming season.

A great deal of that improvement must be a more aggressive nature, far more tenacity. Hopefully the Cowboys have their next Williams/Allen type mauler.

In truth I would extend that to the O Line as a whole.
If RT and C don't hold their end up then we'll still be in trouble.

i love the tyler smith pick.
i think our run game got fixed the second he stepped off that bus.
i'm excited to see this incarnation of our oline.
to me,collins just didnt seem the same guy post contract extension/post car accident...while i have been impressed with terrence steele since his rookie year.
tyler smith was one of my favorite ot's from the draft and i think he'll do the job at og.
tyron is one of my favorite cowboys.

still plays at an all-pro level.
if he can stay healthy and tyler plays upto realistic expectations...this oline could be better than last season for sure.
which should help us be a better team.
season can't start fast enough.

That's TNT.......Tyron and Tyler! When those two get together it'll be explosive!
