George Selvie was a power guy at edge..not even the same at all as SW. Totally different styles and traits. SW is a bendy edge guy with power. Selvie was never Bendy and quick.

Two totally different players. Suggs was nowhere near the athlete Williams is. Williams is nowhere near the natural pass rusher Suggs was.
we wont know anything really til camp and when the real games begin. purely looking at build, they are identical.

Never understood the Terrell Suggs love in the NFL. I understand the love he got in baltimore but he was an above average playerr that played on a stacked defense. And yet if rounded up averaged 8 sacks a year for his career and less than 1 TFL per game.

Yep, there were a lot of tweeners with that type of build in this draft.

Nowadays, the NFL is seeing more and more of those kinds of players because they have the athleticism teams covet at other positions now at DE.

Comp wise SW might be Dante Fowler Jr.
We should be explosive next year:

Dante Fowler Jr. 6'3 267 4.61 40 time
Sam Williams 6'4 264 4.46 40 time
Micah Parson 6'3 245 4.39 40 time
Demarcus Lawrence 6'3 251 4.80 40 time

he didn't run a 4.46 in the 40 either.
Exactly. I should have mentioned that. Glad u caught it. Not sure how anyone can even mention Selvie in the same sentence with him. They couldn't be anymore different. If Selvie was like anyone it was Greg Ellis MAYBE.

Hmm.. I liked him. He was a nice DE. Wasn't a bendy dude at all however. Just gritty and very driven. He was one of those try hard guys that u HAD to know was comin 110% each down.
according to that graph...he also compares to jermaine johnson and kayvon thibodeaux.
as long as he puts qbs in the dirt...i dont care who he compares to.
but their comp to justin smith are the various measurables.

Robert Quinn
hmm Thats a decent 1. I like. Quinn is almost a pure pass rush specialist. He's a quick twitch guy and very bendy. I wish we had kept him. That said, I think SW has more power in him and stronger at the point, will develop into a more well rounded player I think.

So the thing about Sam Williams is that how he was used in college will be nothing like how he will be used in the pros.

Ole Miss ran a weird 3-2 front that lined Williams head-up on a tackle for most of his snaps, sometimes even shaded inside. So squaring up on tackles and trying to fight through them, he does kind of look like a Terrell Suggs-ish power rusher, winning with long-arm moves and upper body strength.

But Quinn is going to line him up wide and ask him to speed rush. He didn't do a ton of that in college, but his measurables and the handful of out-wide snaps he did get show that he could win differently than he did at Ole Miss.
