Destroyed the NFL lol? It’s literally the most poplar sport in America and had 18 of the 20 most watched sports telecasts last year.

Goodell isn’t perfect, but during his time the league has exploded into the monster it is today. We can all romanticize old times but ratings and following for the league are skyrocketing.

I don’t know that Goodell brought any unique talent forward in making this happen. It’s like saying the commissioner of sex made everybody want to have sex or the commissioner of cocaine made cocaine popular.

I mean football was around for years before Goodell
came around, yet the previous commissioners didn’t put the same effort in growing the league as Goodell has.

If you think that it’s a pure coincidence and the public randomly became more interested in football around during the Goodell era then hey sure I get it. But to me these type of massive growths are rarely due to pure coincidence.

In reality I believe the growth can be directly correlated to his work with TV/broadcasting deals, push to make the league more offensive than defensive (more entertaining product), and creativity in extending the NFL news cycle as now the offseason is a much bigger part of the league (think combine broadcasting/free agency frenzy/draft coverage).

These are real things he pushed and they became huge reasons the league has exploded. Again he has his warts such as ambiguous rulings on punishment, but all in all he’s played a major role in revenue and viewership growth since his time as commish.

Long has been the argument of sport or business when it comes to the NFL. Goodell has expanded the business for the better, but not necessarily the sport IMO. To each their own

John Schnatter would eventually step down from CEO due to audio being leaked of him using a disgusting word.

Dan Snyder very well could be on his way out for a toxic and hostile work environment in his organization as well as shady accounting practices of the stadium ticket revenue coming to light through an investigation by Congress.

Jerry is still Jerry.

I wonder who won this battle.
Schnatter stepped down due to his behavior, Snyder is in the mess that he's in due to bad behavior and Jerry aligns himself with these two. I'm not too comfortable with Jerry being mentioned with these two.

Let’s see…Jerry and Dan Snyder tried to dump Goodell, then end up with “Bad Karma”…

Dallas—A ratings king loaded with talent, comes JUST SHORT of success every year, plagued by penalties at the worst possible times and players suspended for stuff others aren’t. Odd.

Washington—Forced to change their name, constant losing, endless lawsuits, nonstop scandal. Sure, much is deserved, but you think these other teams are angelic?

Don’t cross Goodell…

Goodell has made it the bigger spectacle, but Rozelle by far produced the better product. For that matter so did Tagliabue IMO. MNF, the Pro Bowl, even the playoffs to an extent had more substance then as opposed to now. Maybe my age is showing, but today's game in general doesn't excite me near as much as it did. I still enjoy it, and prefer it to all the other sports, but the game and atmosphere are completely different. For me Goodell represents that change. I'm just not impressed with his tenure

This.

Some owners talked about initiating the procedure to force Jones to sell the Cowboys.

Talk about socialism. That is it right before your very eyes. Where were these people when Jerry bought a franchise in decline and raised to what it is today? Where were any of you? Start up money , money paid to the league for entry.

Up keep of Irving Tx. stadium ? Up keep of Jerry world? You people just trip me completely out.

People seem to want all of the power to pose any nut job scenarios they can dream up, where are these people when the money needs to be spent?

Easy to talk about O.P.M

RG is a meat puppet. He does what he is told by a very small inner circle of team owners. Jerry aint 1 of them. Jerry likes inclusion. 1 thing we all agree with JJ on is we cant stand RG. I feel your angst Jerry.

I still can't for the life of me understand how a group of 32 billionaires and their bran trusts came to the conclusion that Roger Goodell should run their league and be paid a fortune to do so.
hes a puppet. Nuthin more. The real power is a small handful of investors and sponsors/team owners not named Jerry J. He marches 2 the beat of his own drum and they cant stand it. Its an agenda driven league ran by say, maybe 3-5 team owners . Kansas City( Hunt Family), Los Angeles(Kronke),New England(Kraft), New York Giants(MARA FAMILY), then Pittsburgh Steelers(Rooney family). I think its safe 2 say, these teams/owners control RG largely.

Jerry makes ‘em money, but that’s it. The inner circle is Kraft, Mara and a handful of others.

Jerry has to be breaking some sort of record for bad press this off-season. Do you think someone is trying to ruin him or is karma just catching up to him?

Also, Goodell has seemed to stick it (pause) to the Cowboys every chance he gets, and we see why. Tho it's amazing lil Danny Snyder is still holding on to his team.
Replace "Goodell" w/ "The other team owners" and you'd be accurate.

Goodell has been faced w/ a task that is monumentally more difficult than any those other guys faced.

Oh, and those items? Owners, not the commish.
