Will Zeke ever eclipse 1000 yards again?

He’s had low usage the last two years , he can absolutely do it one more time if he stays healthy for a good stretch of a season.

If the knee injury is a legit excuse of why he went from productive to semi-pro caliber why wouldn't they rest him so he could return to being productive?
They kept the severity of it quiet until the season was over. They said it wasn't bad enough to get surgery, so why wouldn't you rest him?
Then, you don't just dump the carries onto Pollard.

Help me understand.

The OC wants to be a passing team. Meaning the RB needs to be able to protect the 40 million dollar QB 45-50 snaps a game. One guy doesn't do that so well.

Any more questions?

Barely got there last season. Missed the year before. Looks pretty shot at 26 to me. Big Mac and Moore prefer to sling it. I say he is done as a 1000 rusher in Dallas. Thoughts?

yes. 17 games, shouldn't be injured and improved line. but also, potentially career after us

......I cant imagine the constant NFL wear on RB's. Zeke aged, exponentially faster from all the early carries in career. @26 he's still a very good back, descent hands, vision, blocking..etc.

I feel he can clip at least 2 more seasons of 1k. Heck, even 800-900 yds would be good.

50 x 17= 850......

And I bet he misses a few games this year....will probably play the first 5 or 6...come up lame....then rest until Thanksgiving...then make a playoff push...rest the final couple of weeks...playoffs...1 and done...Cowboy career over.
This is my feeling too. He won’t play 17.

I would say it depends more on the health of his offensive line. That and how well they play.. If they stink up the joint like they did most of last year Zeke's body will take a beating and he will struggle to achieve any meaningful numbers. Throw in the 40-50 snaps a game when he's asked to be the 6th offensive lineman and he might not finish the season. Hopefully Pollard continues to improve in pass protection so HE can be out there throwing HIS body in from of 260 pound dudes coming at him with bad intentions for at least some of those snaps. In reality I don't think ol' "Yards are Yards" is interested in Zeke hitting any milestones.. Maybe if they implement a new stat "number of blitzers de-cleated?"

If you think Zeke is in pass pro “40-50” times a game you’re delusional.

Yeah I expect him to get 1000 plus yards, knee injury slowed him down last season.

Absolutely NOT! RB's normally don't get better with age and Zeke is starting to show his age. He also looks fat! What a terrible contract Jerry ponied up.

probably, because its a 17 game season and he will force himself into games to get his 1000 yards if he is close. he is a very selfish player.

Yeah, have you looked at the play differential? We run plenty of running plays. Nothing out of the ordinary. We ran more run plays than our opponent average. Maybe it's not on Moore with regard to running your best two RBs with injuries? But I'm not super confident this coming season will be any different come playoffs.

1000? Doubtful, but.....

If he removes the hair and metal attached to his skull I think he can easily hit 950.

Exactly! After the NE scare, priority #1 became having Dak healthy for the playoffs.

Also people forget Pollard blew up his foot in the NO game. Didn't miss time but wasn't 100% either.

By whose standard did "We run plenty of running plays?" We ran more plays than our opponent on average because we won 12 games.. which means we were ahead in a lot of games and handed off to Pollard and the other backups late in garbage time. Especially in those games where we blew teams out. Even at that we threw it 643 to 479. Because we also PASSED it more than our opponent on average.

But the telling numbers are what happened after the New England game.. Here are the pass/run breakdowns by game.

Minnesota 41 pass 24 run, 3 sacks so 44-24.
Denver 39 pass 16 run, 2 sacks. 41-16
Atlanta 37 pass 39 run (40 point blowout, nuff said)
KC 43 pass 16 run, 5 sacks = 48-16
Vegas 47 pass 20 run, 1 sack = 48-20
NO 40 pass, 24 run, 1 sack = 41-24
WASH 39 pass 34 run 2 sacks (24-0 game at half)
NYG 37 pass 30 run, 3 sacks 40-30
WASH 42 pass, 24 run, 3 sacks 45-24 (42 point blowout and still 2-1 pass run ratio)
AZ 39 pass 17 run, 1 sack 40-17 ..
PHI 28 pass, 32 run 1 sack 29-32 blowout win.

So in the last 10 games they ran more than they passed only twice and in fact the insistence on continuing to pass late in the first Washington game allowed them back in it with the turnovers by Dak. Several games exceeded 2-1 pass run ratio which should never happen unless you're behind big.. which only happened once.

Actually he did miss the Washington game after the foot injury.

yes, he will eclipse it, he will very likely get 1,000 yards this year. But that doesn't mean much in a 17 game season. 1,000 yards is a meaningless over used milestone

Its hard to rush for 60 yards a game when you have backup offensive linemen being pushed back into Zeke on running plays as soon as Dak hand the ball off to him. I'm not blaming the offensive linemen solely because i do believe Zeke has lost a step, but if he has decent blocking, i believe he's still a 1000 yard back.
