...FOX is cutt-throat type of Co. Dogs on the prowl. The man just Un-retired, let him play ball.

Aikman only calls out easy targets.

He picks on the players who others have targeted by other people in the media or lesser known players, but he softens his criticism when it comes to star players to things like, "not sure what he was thinking" and "he normally makes better throws than that".
I’m not sure we’ve ever had cut throat critics or trolls as color commentators. Perhaps you’d like Stephen A working in the booth. Lol

On a more serious note I don’t really think it’s a color commentators job to be overly critical of players. Can they critique a play or performance . Sure.

But to generate or promote a negative narrative like we all too often see in all facets of the media I don’t see happening on network TV with the NFL during a broadcast.

No, nor do I want them to just be negative in the booth.

What I would love to see is a hall of famer who is commenting to say, "That player needs to work on his technique more because he is getting beat by an undrafted rookie" or "he is not a good player right now" instead of "He normally plays better than that so I wonder if he is injured".

In other words, I just want them to be honest, not mean or overly negative.

I have nothing against Tom Brady, but he does have a peculiar voice. Not sure how this will work out.

Tom Brady is sick in the head…in a good way. If he wants to be the best commentator, he will be. Dude has enough charisma to score Giselle. Please don’t compare him to Jason Witten.

I think this is crazy. You don't even know how good he'll be. I have my doubts he'll be good.

Ask...dare I say...Roger. He was just terrible but to his credit knew it and bailed on CBS after a year.

Okay once again I'm confused. So first he retires, then he says he's unretiring, so now I guess he's retiring again?

I'm sorry but this guy is autistic. I've known that for a while. Socially awkward. Extremely gifted at one thing. He's autistic. Bottom line.

Wow that changes everything. Brady will make more money as a game analyst then he would playing football. Will players actually try to hit Brady this season…….,,
yeah this guy is golden, everything just falls into place for him lol.
Thats what I call people who have a lot of luck , good luck. Tom earned this, but he has some really good luck too.

It is ironic, that the wealthiest player gets a deal like this lol .....golden!!

As for him being good, I thought tony would not be good, but then he surprised me.
Tom will work hard at being good at it, because he likes to win, and probably wants to out do Tony.

if you read the other posts, you would know this is a deal for when he does retire, not now lol.
Tom will be good at whatever he does, as he will put in the work.

Playing NFL football at a high level and broadcasting it are two different things. Both require a skill. Joe Montana gave it a try in the studio after his NFL career and he wasn’t any good. I remember Roger Staubach broadcasting a few games and his delivery was too slow. He didn’t last long.

We'll see. Montana was always kinda plastic on the personality side. And Roger has always struck me as a little low key/shy. I have to think they didn't sign Brady sound unheard and at least got a little sample of what they'd be getting. He just has to stay away from a series of concussions this season and he should be set if he hangs it up after this season.

Insane amount of money. Nothing against guys making that coin but it’s ridiculous those companies can throw that much around. Reminds me to cancel directv stream after the nhl playoffs

Sounds like those initial numbers were very high; seeing several sources saying its in the $20-25 million per year range. Which would still be the top rate.
Also after his career; I think this will be his last year playing.

Side note: Tom Brady made over $300 million in his career. Anyone claiming he was playing for a lot less should think on that.

Well I'm not quite sure what you'd want to see from a high profile position like that. And who currently does what you're looking for besides a media pee-on looking to make a name for him/herself (I'm not talking about SiteHype, lol)? As you mentioned before about broadcasters being concerned about coaches and players getting upset about criticism, their jobs are also to get access to players. So if you criticize harshly, you do risk not getting access to get that insight you hear Aikman and Buck talking about when they interviewed players during the week and they usually want access to the stars. So they do have to walk a fine line and answer to their network who wants that access to show/tell viewers.

And if it's stars you're dealing with, you do cut them more slack because if they're stars, they've balled out more than not versus a wannabe without a reputation yet so I get the softer criticism due to track record. But it's probably more the fine line I mentioned in the paragraph above.

I added what I was looking for in another post. I am not looking for a mean person, just someone who will be more honest.
