You're right, none of us know what would have happened in another division. But if I had to bet, I don't think we win the division in the NFCN or NFCS. That doesn't mean I think we can't split with GB or TB.
It’s all speculative . But we can begin to draw some hypothesis based on the results .

We beat one playoff team outside of Egirls in the Pats. Those are our two wins against playoff teams .

Which I’d argue is a reasonable parallel to where we could have ended up outside our division based on our 6-5 record ( which doesn’t include playoff loss) outside our division.

Basically a wild card team hovering around 10-7 or 9-8. That’s a very subjective unbiased assertion IMO.

I'd argue that even though the Chargers didn't make the playoffs, they were a tougher team to beat than the sorry Eagles. I'd even put the Saints in that category as well. I don't care that the Eagles were a playoff team. They sucked.

Typo. That's what I meant. The point remains.
The NFCW is the only division with substantially better teams. There's no better gauge than the postseason.
Good teams get there, better teams keep going.
And that’s the basis of the argument. Do we even make the playoffs if we are in another division. It’s a very arguable subject.

Based on our record against other NFC playoff teams a reasonable argument could be made we were 6th best team in playoffs.

Both of the playoff teams we beat were demolished in the playoffs. I’d argue we were the 6th best team in NFC playoffs only ahead of the Egirls.

It may "seem reasonable" to you but with wins & losses column among divisions, it's really not.

So which NFC playoff team would you argue we were better than besides Egirls?

AZ, SF and Tampa we all lost to. Would you argue we were better than GB or LA?

Good: Cowboys have the best starting QB in the division.

Bad: Cowboys have the worst backup QB in the division.

What say you?

PS: Should Cowboys look to upgrade their backup QB, or are you satisfied keeping Cooper Rush as Dak's backup?

not one top QB in the entire division

I do not think Prescott is all that far ahead of Hurts, Jones or Wentz. I think it comes down to which team has the best defense this season.

As bad as the NFC East has been, NFC North has not fared well even having worse overall record than the east last season

Yea, that’s mainly because of Detroits awful season. After starting 0-8 they did finish 3-13-1. Vikings were in playoff chase finishing at 8-9. Bears we’re 6-11. Packers were first team in NFC to clinch division?

Their overall divisional record was worse than the East but I seriously doubt the Cowboys could have still won it over Green Bay. I certainly haven’t heard from any analysts that have argued as such .

I don't know, I do know the NFC North sucks and fact is GB was beat at home by the same 49er team. Hell GB scored 1 TD at the start of the game and did nothing afterwards. My points is while people hear love to slam the East I don't see the NFC North as any better and in many cases worse than the NFC East.

That’s a reasonable argument. And the North divisions record would support such .

I think the reason many consider the East worst division or possibly easiest to win and my bigger argument is we don’t see the Cowboys winning those divisions over GB, TB or LA .

As QBs, I’d put Wentz and Jones both above Hurts. Hurts has been absolutely nothing but a bus driver and runner. His success comes from a very good run game and scheme.
