They say he has gotten bigger. The guy ran a 4.37 forty. If he kept his speed with the weight gain ,he could be special. The talk of him being a hybrid TE was from Fehoko himself from the coaching staff plans..

Bigger? Better have put on 40 lbs and if he did, seriously doubt he'd have keep anywhere near the 4.37 time.

Bad idea. Cowboys don't need another player that has to "develop", they have too many of those now....

everyone wants Schultz gone, because he is not a good blocker. What do you think people will say about Fehoko if he becomes a TE!?

and just because he has the size, doesn't mean he can just transition. he has never played the position. its totally different set of reads and responsibilities and routes.

He definitely has the required physical ability.
- He looked like a lost puppy in his 1st preseason game but by the end of the preseason he had made visible progress in awareness.

If he can block similar to Noah Brown and develop into a Cedrick Wilson type receiver, then it's a win.
- Anything beyond that is a bonus.

The Cowboys like Noah Brown because he is a terrific blocking WR.
- The best blocking WR that I've seen...ever.
- The issue is that he never stays healthy and his receiving never developed beyond catching quick underneath passes.

The Cowboys are not trying to make him into a TE.
- They're trying to develop him into a Noah Brown type blocking WR, but with better receiving abilities than Brown.
- Noah Brown is the best blocking WR that I've seen, ever; however, they never tried to convert him into a TE.
- The Cowboys like using Brown as a blocker because if they bring in a 2nd TE, then the defense counters with a base defense.
- With Brown as the 3rd WR, defenses don't go to base. Brown most often ends up blocking a Strong Safety and he wins those matchups.
- The obvious problems with Brown are that he never stays healthy for a season and his receiving ability is limited.

I agree, brown is a very good blocker. that's why I have been saying for three years now, convert him to a TE. he is a good blocker and for a TE he can be good going against LBs, and will block Safties to no end. he can be a weapon that way. he is not a very good WR and he can't get separation going against CBs all day.

not sure if Fehoko can be a good blocker. it will take several years for him to learn blocking. its not simple as people might make it to be.

I think Fehoko would be good from the slot to get him a few reps. good size. good speed. doesn't have to run complicated routes. kind of like a bigger beasley.

They had Fehoko blocking in the preseason and he showed progress in that relatively short time from his 1st preseason to his last.
- Playing in the slot would align with being a blocking WR. He wouldn't have to motion down to get in blocking position.
- Oddly TE Schultz is OK blocking DE inline but can't block DBs in space. They need to scheme to let WR make the blocks in space that Schultz can make.

its different techniques in blocking DL men vs. safties and CBs....DE is more about your hand placement, power vs. DBs, which is more about moving your feet and staying in front (quickness). I think given Fehoko's size, he can be better blocker in the slot as playing interference with DEs coming around or getting in the way of DBs with his size. and because of his size he has to be accounted for in passing game, so it pressures the defense. I just don't see him as a TE. I see brown as more of a smallish TE

With respect, the thread title said only "Simi Fehoko TE" That's what I and others were replying to. There was no mention of anything about making him a better blocker, etc.

I get what you're saying, but was a simple statement and I gave a simple answer....

This guy was buried on the roster last year, though.

I think he we'll see some of his development this year. He has what it takes, physically. How successful he is depends on how hard he works.

He can be a TE on some plays, slot WR on some, and a wide out on others..

Dude played at Stanford, so he can obviously learn..

Tolbert is also a good blocker. Or at least he was in college. I was impressed how he helped other guys on his team get open.

Respectfully, it sounded dumb as hell to bulk this guy up to a TE. Cowboys have hole at WR and a full room of TEs. Whatever happened to letting a rookie develop especially a WR?
It's been reported he dropped weight last offseason and now he's just gaining it back to what he played at in college.

Fehoko played in only 16 games his entire college career. Only 1 game his first year.

He's green as a receiver and people want to mold him into a tight end

Good luck with that...

Don't be so Transphobic. I know grown people that went from human to cat surely a WR can transition to TE.
