What has this franchise learned that makes us closer to a SB?

I think you answered your own question. This is not like other ownership groups or even a normal sane person. His ego is too large to believe he can ever be wrong.
Remember he is quoted as saying.. " 500 coaches could take this team to a Super Bowl"... don't have the exact quote.. That was the sliding door moment in this franchises history.
Not talking about his state of mind or sanity because we know he has none of those....yes the ego is large, yes he has fathered 25 children of unknown sources, but in terms of wanting to win how can one think he doesn't want to win? If would so feed his ego he would need a new yacht, with something new to show off. The man is simply clueless and if they do win one, it will be him and only him that will be the one to do so....

Oh, I truly believe you are wrong, lol. It is a well known fact he has fathered multiple children out of his marriage in order to eventually bring them to replace Jr...all kidding aside though, his passion is to win a ring...his delusions of how close we are to one, and what it takes to win one is what has held this franchise back. And now, Jr looks like a creepy dude who is the one who doesn't care about anything except the almighty $$$$$
Here’s where I disagree- Jerry would love to win another ring. But not nearly as much as he loves having total and absolute control of everything about this team. He loves that the most.

If winning a SB was his #1 passion, he would have let someone else run football ops. But don’t fall for the idea that Jerry wants to win a ring more than anything. That’s not true.

I’ve said this for years! He got all the credit in the world for hiring Jimmy and winning Super Bowls. He just got his feelings hurt. He could easily hire top GMs, coaches etc and win again and still get praise. But it’s always about HIS way to get ALL credit. For such a smart businessman it’s always floored me

They haven't learned a thing. Tbh, there isn't much that convinces me that they will make the playoffs in back to back seasons, based on this offseason.

What the leadership has learnt:
  • Jerry learnt the phrase“big boy’d” and it made him feel both ashamed and a little excited at the same time.
  • Stephen after seeing the couch Jerry bought on Facebook Marketplace learnt the power of lowballing as a negotiating tactic just in time for Free Agency.
  • Mike learnt that he’s a temporary place holder for Sean Payton but his masseuse is helping him work through it.
  • After an unhealthy bromance with Micah in 2021, Quinn saw Sam Williams take his helmet off and found his guy.
  • Kellen learnt that a lot of Cowboys fans think he’ll be a great head coach and is surprised by just how much faith fans have, constantly telling him he’s ready, and encouraging him to take the next step.

Stephen has once again proven himself to be a lowballing assessor of talent where conducting contractual negotiations are concerned. It's my hope that he'll eventually discover that a front office executive must be proactive in veteran free agency and stop his miserly ways of management.

We all want to see the Cowboys move to a place where they can compete for a SB or at least a conference championship for the first time in over a quarter century.

So two serious questions:
  1. What has this franchise (and its leadership) learned the last few years that makes us closer to a championship for the first time in 26 seasons?
  2. Is there anything that gives you confidence that this team will make the playoffs in back to back seasons for the first time in 15 years?
I’m curious where fans are on this. I’m hoping to be convinced by a compelling argument. Otherwise it seems our hopes to break this cycle of 26 years rests squarely on the shoulders of Lady Luck.

If you are convinced otherwise, let me know why, lol.
We have real live defensive playmakers. That is something different.

Give him another 20 years. He may need that long to learn. It’s harder to learn when nothing’s at stake but Daddy getting frustrated.

Well, when we talk about the franchise we are talking about everybody from Jerry on down. As far as the executives go, they didn't learn any more than they could have with all the previous 25 years of losing.

However, from a team perspective most of the players are pretty young and I think it's important for a young team to learn how bad it feels to lose a playoff game. I'm not talking about Dak and Zeke, I'm talking about the younger guys like Micah and CeeDee. Most of the Cowboys today have been around three or less seasons.

I think that when you look at the Cowboys history you'll see those playoff losses that motivated a team to get to the next and ultimate level.

That loss in Super Bowl 5 led to the determination that they weren't going to lose in the playoffs the following season. They beat up on a really good Miami Dolphin team to win Super Bowl 6.

Don't forget 1991 when the Cowboys were destroyed by the Lions in the playoffs. That was also a pivotal turning point..

Losing can be a great motivator for a team that beleives it has the potential to go all the way.

The only problem is, they have lost play off games in the past 26 years and it did nothing.

No, these are other times. This team is just as clueless as their coach and their GM. And that's the whole story. For a rookie coming to the Cowboys these days doesn't mean competing for a Superbowl but competing for the most Facebook / Insta followers.

When we will win our first playoff game again, only then I will start believing in this team again. Not even a 17-0 season would change that. Yes, that last season just broke my back that hard. Even with all the other back breaking seasons considered. Won't let them fool me twice. Uh... for the 15th time I mean. :D

That's really not it. The Jones boys simply don't get it. It's not about lowballing or being miserly, he simply does not understand player worth, due simply to very poor player evaluation. Don't forget, there's a salary min.

Secondly, pretty much all franchises fight players over salaries. They have to.

Think of it this way. Jerry has admitted that he sucks at being GM. And yet he insists on being GM. Just how much does a man want to win who insists on employing a terrible GM?

I thought the Michael Irvin interview that was posted here made some good points about getting some players with attitude.

Let's face it -- Stephen isn't going anywhere. This FO will always be dependent on others like Will McClay to appraise the talent, like it or not.

At some point, Stephen must adjust to the act of supplying addition talent beyond 3rd tier talent to bolster this roster. If not, we'll be stagnant.

They have learned to build the team with youth and through the draft. They also are developing talent as well like they did with Kearse, Steele and others. A lot of fans don't understand what they are doing. They just went 12 and 5 and if they do it again they just might be right and make a lot of people look silly.

Yep, and we're at a competitive disadvantage because of it.
The last 27 years proves he does not have whatever skillset it takes to build a championship caliber team.
