Landry deal. Why could we not have done this?

Not to mention, I'm not sure he would have come here anyway. He turned down the Falcons.....
Landry to me is more of a Randall Cobb type of player. Good after the catch. I think once Gallup comes back, we are going to see him & Tolbert on the outside and Lamb playing inside the slot.

Landry’s numbers have been declining and the Cowboys have decided to take their chances with what they have. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to the situation we saw the first half of the season in 2018.

This doesn't get talked about enough.....This is similar to if Zeke were a Free Agent. Landry is a recognizable name, but doesnt have the recent production to back it up. Is that more on the Browns than Landry? Its a fair debate.
I've always felt he was overrated.

I guess we are ok with James Washington playing big minutes.

"Saints gave WR Jarvis Landry a 1-year deal with a base value of $3M, source said. He can earn another $3M in incentives, mostly based on individual stats. A good value option for New Orleans, while Landry gets his 1-year deal that allows him to get paid again if he produces."
Maybe we could have, or maybe we didn't want Landry, or maybe Landry didn't want to come to Dallas. Contrary to what some think, Dallas doesn't have dibs on all players.

Or maybe Landry just wanted to play in New Orleans because he is from Louisiana, and grew up only 40 miles from New Orleans.

I mean, the guy was free to sign with whoever he wanted to. He was born in Louisiana, went to LSU, so it shouldn't really be a surprise that he signed with NO. Maybe Dallas made him a similar offer and he opted to go with his hometown team. Or maybe Dallas wasn't interested in an overrated WR at this stage of his career. Either way, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Folks still haven’t learned a receiver’s production is inextricably tied to the play of the QB.

No receiver was thriving under Baker Mayfield.

This is what happens when a football team is run by men who aren't focused on the NFL. We overpay a back-up WR when we could have had Jarvis Landry for the same money.

I highly doubt Landry would have taken that deal back when the Cowboys signed Washington. So its really moot at this point. And now after the draft and having Tolbert, signing him now is also moot.

Cowboys have all the pass catchers they need at the moment. Now if someone gets hurt, then it would be time to sign someone.

We "could " have,
But we don't do high priced free agents from other teams.
I know its crazy that we don't participate, one of the nutty things this front office does.

Call me crazy but I'd flat out rather have Washington regardless of cost.

He will be a better compliment once Gallup returns.

Really want Landry getting all pissed off when he gets limited targets and snaps by mid season?

Dak doesn't need that and neither do we.

This isn't a fantasy draft.

Why do folks assume free agents want to be Cowboys? Landry grew up a Saints fan and seems pretty excited to be a Saint now.

It isn't always just about money, and today's players don't remember Dallas winning anything.

Here's your answer:

Landry, 1 year, $6MM

Washington, 1 year, $1MM

That's all you need to know about the Cowboys.

So Dallas got a better player to fit their system for $5 million less. Sounds like a pretty good FO.
