People get more excited over the UDFAs than the mid round picks.

No idea why. Guess it's the getting something for nothing thing.

Only problem with that logic is that......ehh, nevermind.

spot on...its a value thing...if we end up getting xx number of guys that had 5th-7th round grades on them as UDFAs, people get excited on the perceived value. We have historically been pretty good at getting UDFA's that can contribute, which is good, but we really need to have FA's, Draft picks, UDFA's and our own guys developing together....were still missing a good part of the overall puzzle

I think Bell and Lindstrom are the only ones with an actual shot at the roster. Issac Taylor Sturt may make the PS based on physical talent, but he is not a very good player. Could be a couple other players that spend a year or two on practice squads here or somewhere else.

The Cowboys have a pretty nice track record with UDFAs. If you can get one guy to produce form that class, it's a win.

Look at the Cowboys history and you will find Hall of Famers, Pro Bowlers, and Super Bowl heroes drafted in rounds 8 through 17. Guys like Roger Staubach, Bill Perkins, Jethro Push, Larry Cole, Herbert Scott, Dennis Thurman and Kevin Gogan would have been undrafted free agents in today's NFL.

And then there is the history of excellence in UDFA's making an impact on the franchise, guys like Tony Romo, Drew Pearson, Bill Bates, Dan Reeves, Cornell Green, Dave Manders, Cliff Harris, Everson Walls, Michael Downs, Mark Tuinei and Myles Austin.

That's a lot of Super Bowl starters, Pro Bowlers, ROH, and HOFers.

I will give Jerry Jones this. He's willing to spend money to make the team better. He was intelligent enough to understand the value of scouting research and a strong UDFA program. This coming from one of his staunchest critics. This may be exactly where McClay's value is most illustrated.

Despite how some feel about the salary cap, nobody should ever accuse the Jones's of being stingy.

I’ll set the over under of the number of these guys making the roster at 1.5

maybe a few make the practice squad
I’ll take the over. From all reports it seems the coaching staff and FO are wanting to younger and “tougher”.
