So another player on the OL who had a disease no one has ever heard of. Nothing was ever mentioned of this when we drafted him or at least not that I heard. Hopefully it never becomes an issue again.

This is a story of a kid, 16 years old at the time, who refused to let a disease stop him, and that's what you come away with?

If you read the entire story, the team did their due diligence with him. They probably didn't think it was their place to bring this up, let him if he wants to do that, which he has done. Damn tough kid.

It doesn’t matter how old he was it was never mentioned even by the draft experts. Usually they bring up everything about a player regardless how long ago it was. The fact that it’s a good story surprises me that it was never mentioned.

During the draft process, he took questions about Blount’s disease, explaining the surgery, rehab and recovery. If colleges were leery of him coming out of high school, NFL teams seemed more receptive.

The Cowboys had no fears.

“Being a young guy and seeing all the positive stuff and then talking to the doctors, there was no issue, so we were fine with it,” said vice president of player personnel Will McClay.
