"After a poor-run defense performance in the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers last season, it was clear that the Dallas Cowboys needed to make upgrades. In the Draft, you did see them address the interior defensive line with the pick of Arkansas DT John Ridgeway, who’s known for his ability to fill space and stop the run, but he alone won’t be able to solve their problem.

As of right now, the franchise will enter Training Camp with the usual suspects from last year (Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, Trysten Hill, and Quinton Bohanna). But with Bleacher Report writer Ian Wharton suggesting Hill as a player the Cowboys could cut this offseason, there could be an urgency to add bodies.

To help offset the possible cut, I wanted to discuss if DT Ndamukong Suh could be an option. Although he’s on the older side, Suh has shown every year he can be available health-wise and after last season also proved he still has juice left in the tank.

Going off his stats last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Suh collected six sacks, 13 QB hits, 27 tackles, seven TFL (tackles for loss), and one fumble recovery. Comparing those stats to the Cowboys DTs, he would have ranked 1st in almost all categories except for total tackles, as he would have been 3rd.

Adding Suh would finally give the club a true run-stopper that they have lacked for a few seasons. Additionally, he brings a Super Bowl-winning mentality and toughness that the Cowboys desperately need."

If Ndamukong Suh is willing to accept a 1-2 year veteran-cheap, team-friendly deal, should the Cowboys chase after and sign him?

What say you?

Only if he's is cheap.
I don't know how much this guy has left in the tank?

Yes, very old...but still effective. Could he help this team inside of our Dline compared to the DTs we currently have?

I really can't answer that question. I'm guessing no. Mainly because I'd question is motivation at this point in his career. If he plays for dirt cheap, he's gotta know he's never again getting a big contract. I'd fear he'd just go through the motions.

He's looking for a paycheck which is not necessarily a bad thing but Dallas is a young team that already has an entitled culture problem. Any mercenary veteran needs to counter that, not add to it. He worked in Tampa because they had strong leadership.
Along the same lines, I wonder if that strong leadership helped him outgrow his temper that led to penalties on the field.
If not, I don't think he'd be a good fit here. I've had my share of boneheaded Randy Gregory-type penalties. We don't have the leadership this team needs to "keep in check" undisciplined players.
Pass!

Suh can have his paycheck, so long as he can accept his 1 tech role and live up to his incentive based performances.
Brutus-strong and knows how to play the run. And he's played in both 4 man and 3 man front.

He and Vita Vea just made it hell to run difficulty to run against.in Tampa land.
Gap control run stuffer, and durable, he'd be one more step for us not being " out-physical " by the other side, would be a great one/two punch
with rookie Ridgeway.

Even at age 34, i think Suh still be a much more physical, more powerful and more effective player than a Carlos Watkins.

I think he plays in Tampa and that’s it.

If he played like he did for the BUCS in the super bowl I'm all for it. But we don't have Tom Brady here to demand that everyone give 110%.

So I'm feeling like we could get into another Dontari Poe situation which we really don't need.

drafting a DT in the 5th round of the draft is not addressing the issue. Now if they wouldve have moved up and drafted Davis from Georgia then i would say yeah okay. They do what they have done for the last 27 years and that is, ignore the interior of the d-line and then pray the band-aid at safety positions hold up. They still dont seem to understand u build a defense from the inside out.
