We have:
  • Signed Watkins
  • 2nd Rd pick on Hill
  • 3rd Rd pick on Gallimore
  • 3rd Rd pick on Odigi
  • 5th Rd pick on Ridgeway
  • 6th Rd pick on Bohanna
It’s not how I would have done it, I would have spent in FA on a 1T like Futukasi instead of Watkins but I feel like we’ve placed our bets now and Suh is the wrong type of DT (3T) with no 1T left in FA worth upgrading too.

Only if he's is cheap.
I don't know how much this guy has left in the tank?
He just came off a effective season where he played over 60% of snaps
He is really effective rushing the passer from inside
But he’s had seasons he kinda went through the motion most of the season then turned it on in the playoffs
Whether he has a half tank or nearly empty won’t really matter. He’s not signing some team friendly cheap deal
I expect him to wait it out till a team gets an injury and is desperate so he gets paid
If he was cheap he’d already be signed and he’s too old to do a prove it deal. He will get signed but it could be late or after camp. He’s made enough money to wait it out

I think they see ridgeway and Bo as one options

15 solo tackles isn't enough run stopping imo.
His solo and total tackles were career lows
His pass rush from the inside was still really solid
Perception is rarely reality
Watkins played a third less snaps and had more tackles and solo tackles
Osa had more tackles and more solo tackle playing 3-4% less snaps

If he can step on Aaron Rogers throwing hand and make it injured I'd be ok with giving him an incentive laden contract.

Just kidding....

If he can still plug the middle, I say give him a shot. The Cowboys stunk stopping the run up the middle when they had to last year. If he can still play, why not?

Good insights as usual.

Should the Cowboys chase Suh?

No.

This is not a guy trying to check "winning a SB" off his bucket list. He's already done that. The only incentive he would have is stealing some of Jerry's money on his way out the door.

What? Ndamukong Suh at 3T would be perfect since Ridgeway will be our 1T.

"After a poor-run defense performance in the playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers last season, it was clear that the Dallas Cowboys needed to make upgrades. In the Draft, you did see them address the interior defensive line with the pick of Arkansas DT John Ridgeway, who’s known for his ability to fill space and stop the run, but he alone won’t be able to solve their problem.

As of right now, the franchise will enter Training Camp with the usual suspects from last year (Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, Trysten Hill, and Quinton Bohanna). But with Bleacher Report writer Ian Wharton suggesting Hill as a player the Cowboys could cut this offseason, there could be an urgency to add bodies.

To help offset the possible cut, I wanted to discuss if DT Ndamukong Suh could be an option. Although he’s on the older side, Suh has shown every year he can be available health-wise and after last season also proved he still has juice left in the tank.

Going off his stats last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Suh collected six sacks, 13 QB hits, 27 tackles, seven TFL (tackles for loss), and one fumble recovery. Comparing those stats to the Cowboys DTs, he would have ranked 1st in almost all categories except for total tackles, as he would have been 3rd.

Adding Suh would finally give the club a true run-stopper that they have lacked for a few seasons. Additionally, he brings a Super Bowl-winning mentality and toughness that the Cowboys desperately need."

If Ndamukong Suh is willing to accept a 1-2 year veteran-cheap, team-friendly deal, should the Cowboys chase after and sign him?

What say you?
I have never liked him, but he would be an upgrade on the DL. Depending on a 5th round rookie from Arkansas to be the solution to the DL problems is wishful thinking. He will be lucky to make the team. Considering the the lack of talent on the DL, maybe not. Maybe a 5th round rookie draft pick will be an upgrade.

I believe 6 sacks last year equals what all of our DTs did last year.

I would do a one year up to 6 million dollar deal for him. He is what we need. I have no use for Trysten Hill.
No way I give Suh $6M at this point, but I’m with you 100% on Hill. Shouldn’t have made the team last year, let alone this year
