I suspect you're going to be a lot more disappointed than I am, given your lofty expectations. These aren't our father's Dallas Cowboys (my dad was a Browns fan, fwiw).

I'd go so far as betting anything against the Cowboys winning 14 games in the regular season. If I could actually find such a bet in a sportsbook, I'd go Mattress Mack on it.

Your post inspired me. It got me to thinking the Cowboys haven't had a season with less than 8 wins since 2004 unless their starting QB was out. In 2015 and 2010, Romo was out like 11 weeks.

That's why we've been middle of the pack with a few division wins sprinkled in.

If we had a couple top 5 pick season we might be in better shape right now.

We are completely average.

I always say that, with the Cowboys at this point, if we don't make the conference championship game then we just wasted draft position by even making he playoffs.

As fans, lets hope our defense steps it up to give our O a chance. Anything can happen. Our opponents aren't so great that we can't compete. We have a pretty decent team despite Jerry. If our D steps it up a notch, it can make a world of difference. This is just me being an optimist. But it's not without merit, it's an educated guess.

I've had them 9-8 the whole offseason, but after seeing the schedule I can't see 9 wins right now, maybe that will change as the season progresses, but I don't see it right now today.
