Cowboys will play 6 games against teams who have less than a week to prepare for them.

No other team has more than 4 this season.

Yah that was shocking and the fact that we’ve had the best rest schedule the last decade. I wish he went into what we did percentage wise

Remember when Jerry wanted Dallas to be the Texans first opponent. We played them week one of their inaugural season, IIRC.

Remember when Jerry wanted Dallas to be the first opponent in the NFL's return to Los Angeles. We played the Chargers in their home opener, IIRC.

Maybe there is something to this Jerry power slash influence thing.

But it does implore it at the very least.

These guys came up with a way to bias the data and then insisting other's of thinking the same thing. It's garbage analysis and they even state the NFL schedules for most compelling matchups.

Given that, it's not hard to see that the marquee teams are going to be moved around a lot. All the teams they listed were either a Thanksgiving team like the Lions and ourselves. The rest are the top draws like the Bucs, Bills, GB, and us again.

Explain how they “bias the data?”

Bill Simmons is a giant DB. For him to even whine means the Patriots must not have a lot of “rest”.

No one knows what the schedule will present until the season unfolds. I’m glad Dallas doesn’t have to play back to back Thursday games but they do have two of them. Maybe that is an advantage. Maybe not. Too much other stuff factors into the schedule including injuries, suspensions, weather, Covid, etc. to know which team benefits.

Correlation does not imply causation.
I still laugh at how people bought into the "Run game success does not correlate to wins".

In reality that was only because they where using a single stat in isolation (Rushing Yards).

D-Coordinators adjust to limit rushing yards at the expense of pass defense but that was not captured in the isolated rushing yards stats.

Two offenses could end up with the same rushing yards in a game vs the same opponent but that opponent played 8 in the box vs one offense and 7 in the box vs the other defense. If the offenses had equivalent passing ability, then the one that faced the 8 man box had a higher probability of winning.

There won’t be any excuses if the Cowboys lose those games. They’ve had plenty of rest advantages over their opponents only to show up looking flat and unprepared.

On the other hand, the Cowboys play five games in 26 days during December, including
---12/18 Sunday afternoon road game, then 6 days later
---12/24 Saturday evening home game, then 5 days later
---12/29 Thursday night game.

Dallas' opponent for that Thursday night game - Tennessee - has the same December schedule; the differences are:

Titans 12/18 Sunday afternoon game is on the west coast__LAC
Cowboys 12/18 Sunday afternoon game is on the east coast__JAX
TEN Xmas Eve home game is early afternoon___HOU
DAL Xmas Eve home game is late afternoon__PHL
And for the fifth December game....Cowboys are on the road v. Titans for that Thursday night.
