There is a heavy heart among us all today. This thread is dedicated to the lost lives of innocent children, their teachers & grandmother.

On May 24, 2022, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, United States, killing 21 people. Earlier that day, Ramos shot and wounded his grandmother before proceeding to the school~ Wikipedia

My children are grown but I have a 13-year old granddaughter. I did not think very much about this type of tragedy happening to my kids but I have thought about it since my grandchild began kindergarten.

Life is too precious. Children should be allowed to experience it fully.

I hope the children and adults will rest in peace.

I have a Freshman, 7th Grader and a 4th Grader all on their last week of school. All of them, especially my 4th Grader, have just been having fun events. In fact his 4th Grade graduation was yesterday as it’s the end of Elementary School. I’ve burst into tears at least 10 times since yesterday because all I can think of is the terror that a child like mine would encounter. I hope these families somehow can cope.

I was hoping no one would post this. Damn heartbreaking.

I cannot imagine the pain in that community right now.

It is a tragedy beyond description and part of us dies along with the innocents.

When will we begin to address mental health prior to events like this happening?

I know this isn't the answer everyone wants to hear - but part of the issue is we have gotten too PC in regards to labeling those with mental health issues. The push to treat everyone the same is not working. Some people are just wired differently and need help or even institutionalized (which isn't an option when its not voluntarily done).

It starts at homes where parents are either not there, don't care or just overwhelmed by the issues their kids have.
These days, Public schools are used as daycares for kids with mental health issues and they are not equipped to handle or treat the issues. Those same kids go home and go to their bedroom where they proceed to play video games that desensitize them to violence and the value of a human life.
Then, these same kids who have basically been pushed through the system become adults and the cycle continues. They become ticking time bombs ready to unless on society.
There are signs left and right - but they just get pushed aside and ignored.

Something has to change

I don't understand what would make a person snap and do something like this.
